The alchemists call it "Hei Long Dan" (Black Dragon Pill). It is made by burning horse dung and collecting the soot from the bottom of the pot (Fu Qi Mei).
It is used for promoting tissue regeneration and closing wounds; applying it directly to the wound site yields immediate results.
Another name is "Cui Bai". Ancient prescriptions record its use, which is actually the powder of old Ding ware porcelain. Since recently fired porcelain retains residual fire energy (fire toxicity), it is poisonous, can corrode flesh, and should not be taken internally.
Powder from green porcelain is called "Cui Qing". *Ben Jing Feng Yuan* records: White porcelain ground into fine powder and processed by wet grinding (Shui Fei) can be applied externally to treat carbuncles and swellings, serving as a substitute for acupuncture and moxibustion techniques; it can also be used to apply to the eyes to remove nebulae (Yi). *Bai Cao Jing* records: "Bai Zhu Sha" refers to ancient white porcelain, ground into powder for medicinal use. Because it has aged over time, it lacks the harm of fire toxicity. If absolutely necessary, broken Ding ware that has been buried in the earth can be used, quenched in vinegar, ground into fine powder, and processed by wet grinding. People today mistakenly use recently fired white porcelain with residual kiln energy as a substitute.
Note: In surgery, there is a concept of "Nine Types and Thirteen Roots." When planting a carbuncle to leave a root, there is a method involving "White Porcelain Root," which prevents the toxic pathogen from resolving and closing, allowing practitioners to profit from prolonged treatment. Now, *Ben Jing Feng Yuan* uses it to treat carbuncles and swellings, which may risk leaving the toxic root behind and should not be used erroneously. Alternatively, adding it to plasters to substitute for needle puncture is acceptable, but it should be used sparingly.
Divine Efficacy Prescription for Reconnecting Broken Bones: From *Huang Shi Yi Chao*. Grind the material into an extremely fine powder, mix with yellow beeswax to make pills, swallow three qian with wine to induce sweating. The bone will reconnect with an audible sound, and recovery occurs within moments.
Removing Nebulae: From *De Xiao Fang*, there is "Dian Yan Cui Bai Dan" (Eye-Dropping Emerald-White Pill), using this method. *Lu Yan Fang* contains "Tui Yun San," using Cui Qing and Cui Bai together. *Yi Xue Zhi Nan · Ocular Diseases Section* contains "Bo Yun Neng Guang San," which uses Bai Zhu Sha, prepared twenty-one times with child's urine and vinegar before use.
Treating Near and Far Star Nebulae: From *Yan Ke Yao Lan*. Bai Zhu Sha, Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis), Xiong Dan (Ursus Bile), Bai Ding Xiang (Streblus Asper Fruit), Zhen Zhu (Pearl), Bing Pian (Borneol) each one fen; Shi Yan (Sparaxis Tuberosa Bulb), Shi Xie (Erycina crispa Bulb), Hu Po (Amber), Shan Hu (Coral) each three fen, Lu Gan Shi (Calamina) three qian, She Xiang (Musk) half a fen. Grind all into a fine powder, mix with one liang of honey, and apply to the eyes.

Treating Ge Syndrome (Diaphragmatic Obstruction): *Xi Fu Fang* uses white porcelain shards heated red, quenched seven times in vinegar, ground into an extremely fine powder, and taken with liquor (three li).
Treating Chuang Qi Yan (Marginal Swelling of Ulcers): Heat Bai Zhu Sha until red, quench in four liang of dry distilled liquor, repeating seven or eight times until soft. Grind fine and process by wet grinding. For every one qian of this medicine, add three li of Bing Pian, grind fine, and sprinkle on the lesion, covering with a black plaster. Pregnant women must not take it, as it can cause abortion. Exercise caution.
Treating Shan Kang Tou (Eel-Carrying Head, a type of facial carbuncle): From *Ye Shi Fang*. Use fine porcelain ground into powder, mixed with sesame oil, applied topically for immediate effect.
Prescription for Treating Sprains and Bruises from Falls: Bai Zhu Sha, i.e., Hui Qing porcelain, heated red in a fire jar, quenched seven times in child's urine, ground into powder. Take three qian of the pure powder, along with one qian each of Ru Xiang (Olibanum) and Mo Yao (Myrrh), both defatted. Grind the three ingredients into a fine powder, take with good yellow rice wine. Take once every three days; three doses result in full recovery.
