The formula additions and subtractions vary, generally using large amounts of Angelica dahurica (Baizhi), Ligusticum chuanxiong (Xiongqiong), Angelica pubescens (Duhuo), Nardostachys jatamansi (Gansong), Kaempferia galanga (Sannai), Syzygium aromaticum (Dingxiang), Agastache rugosa (Huoxiang), Ligusticum wallichii (Ben), Alpinia officinarum (Gaoliangjiang), Illicium anisatum (Jiaohuixiang), Litsea cubeba (Lianqiao), Rheum palmatum (Dahuang), Scutellaria baicalensis (Huangqin), Cupressus funebris (Baimu), and Aquilaria sinensis (Doulongxiang) powder. These are mixed into a paste using Ulmus pumila (Yupi) flour as a binder, extruded into thread incense, forming shapes like threads.
