Only the white ones are used for medicinal purposes.
Meat
Taste: Salty; Nature: Neutral. Resolves the toxicity of various drugs. (Because drug toxins tend to be hot in nature, and pigeons possess the Qi of Metal and Water, thus they can resolve [toxicity].)
Egg
Resolves sores toxicity and smallpox toxicity. Formula for preemptively resolving smallpox toxicity: Use one pair of white pigeon eggs, place them in a bamboo tube, seal it tightly, and store it in a toilet for half a month before taking it out. Using the egg white...
Zuo Pan Long (i.e., pigeon feces; feces from wild pigeons are particularly effective.)
Taste: Acrid; Nature: Warm.
Supplementary Formula For severe abdominal pain due to Yin syndrome with cyanotic complexion: Take one he of pigeon feces, stir-fry until cooked, grind into powder. Mix with one cup of extremely hot wine, allow to settle and clarify, then take in one dose for immediate recovery.
Fan Hua Tang steered bladder [Note: Text fragment likely refers to processing or specific preparation involving pigeon bladder]
Egg
Taste: Sour; Nature: Warm. (Sparrows belong to Yang, their nature is particularly prolific/libidinous, thus they warm the Kidney and strengthen sexual function. The meat has a sweet and warm taste, but its efficacy does not reach that of the egg.) Mainly treats Qi deficiency. In men: impotence with inability to erect, forcing erection leads to heat sensation, abundant sperm and fertility. In women: leukorrhea, difficult urination. Eliminates hernia and mass formations.
Supplementary Formula Sparrow Egg Pill: One jin of Semen Cuscutae (Cuscutae Semen) powder. In the second and third months of spring, take five hundred sparrow eggs, discard the yolks and use only the whites. Mix and form pills the size of Sophora seeds (Wu Zi). Whenever sparrow eggs are available, make pills without limiting the quantity.
Bai Ding Xiang (i.e., male sparrow feces)
Taste: Bitter; Nature: Warm; Slightly toxic. Formulary texts treat edema, leprosy, epilepsy, and dysentery. For pterygium (fleshy growth on the eye) with red vessels penetrating the pupil, apply milk to the eyes for immediate dissipation; this is miraculous. (Do not use if not caused by external wind-heat pathogens.) Swallow mixed with honey as pills to treat chronic stubborn conditions such as masses and accumulations. Topical application causes suppuration/drainage.
[Discussion] The utility of sparrow eggs lies in assisting the elderly with deficient and damaged Zang-Fu organs and weak Yang Qi, serving as an aid to tonify Yang and benefit Qi. This is indispensable. If the Kidney... also.

Mr. Miu states: Those who consume herbs of the Atractylodes group (Shu) must avoid eating sparrow meat and eggs.
[Processing] Sparrows with yellow beaks that have not yet mated should not have their feces used. Feces with the pointed end at the base are from males; those rounded at both ends are from females. Males use female feces... use... thereof.
