[Green Bean]
The flavor is sweet and the nature is cold. Its green color corresponds to Wood. It connects with the Jueyin and Yangming meridians. It is advisable to use it with the skin; removing the skin may cause slight qi stagnation, as the skin is cold while the flesh is neutral in nature.
It reduces swelling, directs qi downward, suppresses heat, and detoxifies.
When crushed raw and juiced for oral administration, it treats erysipelas (a skin infection characterized by redness and heat) with vexatious heat, wind-rash triggered by medicinal herbs or minerals, rising hot qi (Ben Tun), and calms phlegm-wheezing. There are cases where individuals consumed excessive wine containing Fuzi (Aconite Lateralis Radix Praeparata).

[Hyacinth Bean / White Hyacinth Bean]
The flavor is sweet, the nature is cool and neutral. It resolves various heats, benefits qi, and detoxifies alcohol and food poisons. It treats carbuncles and sores on the back, as well as burns and scalds. Mixed with fresh water and taken orally, it treats cholera with muscle cramps. For those poisoned by various drugs who have died but whose hearts remain warm, this bean provides further detoxification. Huxin San (also known as Neituo San or Ruxiang Wanquan San): For any carbuncle disease, it is advisable to take more than ten doses consecutively within one day, allowing the toxic vapors to exit outward, thereby avoiding transformation into complicated syndromes. If delayed, the toxic vapors will attack inward, gradually causing vomiting or nasal ulcers/fungus-like growths. Not eating [implies loss of appetite].
Crushed [method implied].
Vomiting and reflux [symptoms implied].
Mineral drug eruption [symptom implied].
Should assist qi [therapeutic principle implied].
Those with Spleen-Stomach deficiency-cold and loose stools should avoid eating it. (Zhongchun)
The flowers possess purple and white colors. If autumn heat persists, they do not easily sprout/grow, hence named Liangyan Dou (Cool Propagating Bean). Colloquially misnamed as Yangyan Dou (Sheep Eye Bean). Those with red and black spots are not used in medicine.
White Hyacinth Bean
The flavor is sweet. The aroma is fishy and fragrant. The nature is neutral. It enters the Qi level of the Foot Taiyin and Foot Yangming meridians. It primarily harmonizes the middle, directs qi downward, unblocks the Triple Burner, benefits the Spleen and Stomach, removes dampness-heat, relieves summerheat, stops dysentery, eliminates pus and blood, treats cholera, and resolves all vegetable and mineral poisons. (Effective when chewed raw or taken as a decoction juice). Hard-shelled White Hyacinth Bean, its qi and nature obtain...
Also regulates the Spleen and Stomach. (Binhu) In autumn, when mature, the color is white, and the smell/taste is sweet and fragrant. It embodies the meaning of Earth, Metal, and Water connecting through three organs. Moving rightward and descending, naturally summerheat ceases and heat dissipates.
Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma)
Can [verb implied].
[Discussion] Hyacinth beans are sown in February, passing through spring and summer, and only multiply after the White Dew solar term. Moreover, if autumn heat persists, they do not easily grow; this indicates their qi returns to Metal. And...

Beneficial [function implied].
Those suffering from cold conditions should not eat it. (Shen)
[Processing] Select the hard-shelled variety, stir-fry until cooked with the skin, and use. There are also methods of soaking in water to remove the skin, or using it raw.
Leaves
The flavor and nature are the same. Primarily treats cholera. A secret method for treating cholera: Take a handful of White Hyacinth Bean leaves, one white plum, and crush them together with the beans until paste-like. Mix with freshly drawn water. Miraculous effect. After vomiting and diarrhea with muscle cramps, crush a handful of White Hyacinth Bean leaves, add a little vinegar, juice it, and take orally. Recovery is immediate.
