[Heixi Dan (Black Tin Pill)]
Indicated for patterns of excess in the upper and deficiency in the lower, exhaustion of the True Yuan (Primordial Qi), depletion of Yang Qi, and predominance of Yin Qi. Symptoms include panting and rapid breathing in the upper body, diarrhea with vomiting and regurgitation, spontaneous sweating, palpitations (Xin Chong), and frequent urination. It is indicated for all types of deficiency-cold conditions.

Ingredients and Preparation: Heixi (Black Tin) (4 liang, melted in a new iron crucible over fire; tin dross is skimmed off with an incense spoon; 0.5 liang of Sulfur is added and stir-fried together; removed and ground into fine powder; weigh out 2 liang; separately add 2 liang of Sulfur powder; mix these two ingredients in the crucible and refine into liquid; remove from heat, cool down, then reheat over fire; repeat this process three times; after cooling, grind into fine powder). Boshang Huixiang (Bo-shang Fennel Seed) (lightly stir-fried). Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) (processed, skin and umbilical scar removed). Muxiang (Costus Root) (lightly stir-fried). Chuanlianzi Rou (Pericarpium Toosendan Fruit) (stir-fried). Poguzhi (Fructus Psoraleae) (stir-fried). Roudoukou (Nutmeg) [Note: Text implies usage but quantity/method merged in next line].

Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Then mix the Black Tin powder evenly with them. Use wine-boiled wheat paste as a binder to form pills the size of Sophora seeds (Wutongzi). [LaiFu Dan (Returning to Life Pill)]
Indicated for men and women with indistinct Yin and Yang, deficiency damage of the True Yuan, or conditions complicated by chronic cold. Suitable for Huoluan (Cholera-like syndrome) with vomiting and diarrhea, inability to keep food or medicine down, pale complexion, blue lips, and cold extremities (Ni Leng). Also treats patterns of excess in the upper and deficiency in the lower leading to confusion, restlessness, and oppression; irritability, thirst with desire to drink; abdominal and hypochondriac pain; chest and diaphragm fullness and obstruction; shortness of breath and panting. As long as Stomach Qi remains, administration of this formula will be effective.

Ingredients and Preparation: Boshang Huang (Bo-shang Sulfur) (ground finely). Xiao (Saltpeter/Niter) (ground finely). Taiyin Yuanjing Shi (Taiyin Primordial Essence Stone) (ground finely). [The above three ingredients are each 1 liang].

[Zhongru Shi Wan (Cloud Milkstone Pill)]
Indicated for cold in the Zang organs causing abdominal pain and uncontrollable diarrhea (slippage).

Ingredients and Preparation: Chenglian Zhongru Fen (Refined Cloud Milkstone Powder) (0.5 liang). Huang (Sulfur) (0.5 liang, ground separately). Bai Fan (Alumen) (fire-refined, 1 fen). Yangqishi (Actinolite/Startone) (1 fen, ground separately).

Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Use boiled wheat paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 10 pills per dose, washed down with millet decoction. Take on an empty stomach or before meals.
