"Yi Chun Sheng Yi" (Remaining Meaning of Medical Purity) consists of four volumes, beginning with "Debate on Heavy Medication and Light Dosage" (Zhong Yao Qing Tou Bian) and ending with "Three Rushes in Postpartum Period" (Chan Hou San Chong), totaling twenty-four chapters. All prescriptions are self-formulated by the author. Each chapter contains at least three or four prescriptions, and up to twenty in some cases, amounting to a total of one hundred and ninety-six prescriptions (eight prescriptions without specified indications are excluded from this count). The Master had little leisure time due to daily affairs and completed this "Sheng Yi" (Remaining Meaning) in his later years during spare moments. He harbored no desire for fame or profit; rather, he merely expressed his personal insights to provide examples and demonstrations for future students. Zhu Zuyi’s annotations, limited by his own scholarship, fall short of fully elucidating the original text. It is deeply hoped that subsequent readers will seek the principles of syndrome differentiation from the clauses, the principles of medication from the methods, and the correct perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine theory through relative and contrasting comparisons. By maintaining a diligent and humble attitude and striving continuously, they will not fail to live up to the earnest exhortations and heartfelt intentions of the Master.
Zhu Zuyi, junior scholar of the same professional lineage, respectfully wrote this postscript.
