(Taken from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) consists of Danggui (Angelica Sinensis), Baishao (White Peony Root), along with Chaihu (Bupleurum), Huangqin (Scutellaria Baicalensis), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala), and Gancao (Licorice), decocted with Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and Bohe (Mint). [Specific dosage: Chaihu, Danggui (soaked in wine), Baishao (stir-fried with wine), Baizhu (stir-fried with soil), Fuling (Poria) each 1 qian; Zhi Gancao (Honey-fried Licorice) 0.5 qian; add Wei Jiang (Ginger fried with bran) and Bohe for decoction.] This formula is most miraculous in its ability to dissipate stagnation and clear bone-steaming fever. [When the Liver is deficient, blood pathology arises; Danggui and Baishao nourish blood and pacify Liver Yang. When Wood qi is excessive, Earth becomes weak; Baizhu and Ganzhong harmonize the Middle Jiao and tonify Earth. Chaihu raises Yang and disperses heat; Fuling promotes diuresis and calms the Heart; Shengjiang warms the Stomach and dispels phlegm; Bohe vents Liver stagnation.] Liver Qi stagnation leads to Fire stagnation; Fire stagnation leads to Spleen Qi stagnation; Spleen Qi stagnation leads to Lung Qi stagnation; Lung Qi stagnation leads to Kidney Qi stagnation. The Five Elements are interrelated, which is the natural order. I use one formula to treat Liver Qi stagnation, thereby resolving all types of stagnation; Xiaoyao San is such a formula. To regulate menstruation, add Danpi (Moutan Bark) and Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit) to form Bawei Xiaoyao San (Eight-Ingredient Free and Easy Wanderer Powder). [The Eight-Ingredient Xiaoyao San, containing Danpi and Zhizi, treats Liver injury and blood deficiency.]
(Liuhuo Zhengqi San (Agarwood and Magnolia Bark Powder for Rectifying the Qi), from *Heji Jufang*, contains Dafupi (Areca Peel), Zisu (Perilla Leaf), Gancao (Licorice), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), Fuling (Poria), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala), and Houpo (Magnolia Bark). Add Banxiaqu (Pinellia Fermented Paste) and Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica), decocted with Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and Dazao (Jujube). It can expel pathogens caused by external contraction combined with internal injury, as well as mountain miasma. [Specific dosage: Huoxiang (Patchouli), Dafupi, Zisu, Fuling, Baizhi each 3 liang; Chenpi, Baizhu (stir-fried with soil), Nonghoupo (Magnolia Bark stir-fried with ginger juice), Banxiaqu, Jiegeng each 2 liang; Gancao 1 liang. Take 5 qian per dose, decocted with Shengjiang and Dazao. Huoxiang regulates Qi and harmonizes the Middle Jiao, dispels evil odors and stops vomiting; Zisu, Baizhi, and Jiegeng disperse wind-cold; Chenpi, Banxia, and Fuling dry dampness and transform phlegm, thereby assisting righteous Qi. When righteous Qi flows smoothly, pathogenic rebellion is naturally eliminated.]
(Liuhe Tang (Six-Harmony Decoction), from *Heji Jufang*, presents Huoxiang (Patchouli), Houpo (Magnolia Bark), Xingren (Apricot Kernel), and Sharen (Amomum Fruit), along with Banxia (Pinellia), Mugua (Chaenomeles), and Chi Fuling (Red Poria). Combined with Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala), Renshen (Ginseng), Bian Dou (Lablab Bean), and Gancao (Licorice), decocted with Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and Dazao (Jujube), it harmonizes the Six Qi (Wind, Cold, Summerheat, Dampness, Dryness, Fire). [Specific dosage: Huoxiang, Nonghoupo, Sharen, Banxia, Mugua, Chi Fuling, Baizhu, Renshen, Bian Dou, Gancao, decocted with Shengjiang and Dazao. It defends against the six exogenous factors—Wind, Cold, Summerheat, Dampness, Dryness, and Fire—hence named "Liuhe" (Six Harmonies). Huoxiang, Houpo, Xingren, and Sharen regulate Qi and digest food; Renshen, Baizhu, Chenpi, and Banxia tonify righteous Qi and support the Spleen; Bian Dou and Mugua dispel summerheat; Chi Fuling promotes water metabolism. Generally, it focuses on regulating Qi and strengthening the Spleen; once the Spleen and Stomach are strong, various pathogens cannot invade.] Alternatively, add Xiangru (Elsholtzia) and Huoxiang, or add Zisu (Perilla Leaf); one must clearly distinguish between treating Shanghan (Cold Damage) and Shangshu (Summerheat Injury). [For Shanghan, add Zisu; for Shangshu, add Xiangru and Huoxiang.]
