To treat a depressed fontanelle.
Mian Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix, raw) [5 qian each], Mian Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, raw) [5 qian each], Xionghuang (Realgar) [2 qian].
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Mix with finely chopped fresh scallions (including roots and leaves), pounded until mushy. Combine with the aforementioned powders and decoct. Apply as a plaster to the depressed area on an empty stomach.
To treat children aged six or seven years and older suffering from mumps-like swelling and toxicity, trismus (lockjaw), and difficulty eating.
Mian Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix, soaked in water, processed until cracked, skin removed) [ban liang], Xuanmingfen (Mirabilite) [2 qian], Danshichi (Sojae Semen Preparatum) [3 qian, soaked in water and steamed over rice until thoroughly cooked].
Grind the Chuanwu into powder. In a mortar, pound together with the steamed Danshichi and Xuanmingfen until forming a paste. Shape into pills the size of a Chinese tallow nut (Qianshi). Use one pill per dose. For older children, place the pill inside the jaw; allow it to dissolve naturally, facilitating the expulsion of phlegm. Repeat the dissolution method as needed; the swelling and toxicity will subside. For younger children, dissolve the pill in mint honey water, apply with a finger into the jaw, and swallowing is also acceptable.
To treat dust entering a child's eyes, causing redness, swelling, heat, pain upon rubbing, and incessant crying.
Youyan Ximo (Soot Ink).
Grind fresh soot ink thickly with newly drawn well water. Add ban qian of Xuanmingfen. Mix evenly to form a paste. Apply multiple times into the eye with a brush; effective within three to five applications. Avoid alcohol consumption for one day and night.
To treat acute prolapse of the rectum.
Bimazi (Ricini Semen) [1 liang].
Pound the ingredient into a paste. Shape into a cake approximately two fingers wide. Apply to the fontanelle. If the prolapse is due to Yin syndrome, add powder of raw Fuzi, and grind together with scallions and garlic to form a paste. Apply according to the previous method.
To treat infants within one hundred days presenting with cyanotic and cold lips and face, abdominal pain, and nocturnal crying; as well as children over one year old suffering from intestinal colic ("pan chang nei diao"), and various hernia diseases.
Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) [with hooks], Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-washed), Fangcao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted), Ruxiang (Olibanum) [each 5 qian], Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) [de-barked, 2 qian].
Shexiang (Moschus) [one zi measure].
Dry-roast the first four ingredients. Ensure Rougui is not overheated. Grind all together into powder. Wrap Ruxiang in leaves and roast over a heated iron until thoroughly penetrated. Allow to cool, then pound finely in a mortar with Shexiang. Finally, mix in the previously prepared powder. Form pills with refined honey, sized like Chinese tallow nuts. Take one to two pills per dose, dissolved in warm water on an empty stomach.
