Zhang Jingyue stated: Spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) occurs at different stages of pregnancy. Those occurring in the second or third month are called "near" miscarriage, while those around the fifth or sixth month are called "distant" miscarriage. Abortion shortly after conception is mild in severity, whereas abortion after a long gestation is severe. This is common knowledge. However, there is an even earlier occurrence known as "conception and abortion simultaneously." Generally, when the fetal origin begins, in the first month it resembles a dewdrop, and in the second month like a peach blossom. After the third and fourth months, blood vessels and physical form are established; after the fifth and sixth months, bones, sinews, hair, and nails grow. Initially, it is merely a drop of essence. At this stage, the uterine sac lacks foundation and stability, so if the barrier breaks, it flows away. Therefore, after conception, one must strictly abstain from sexual activity to prevent seminal overflow. Young people, however, indulge their desires without fear, some relying on strength to retain semen, others engaging in intercourse again after ejaculation. At such times, while the host wishes for rest, the guest refuses to stop. Like a madman banging on doors, driven by watery nature and hot temperament, who would not open the door and follow the flow? In such moments, falling flowers fly with butterflies, fruits escape together, mixing with filth and flowing alike, one may not realize that conception occurred yesterday and abortion today. Conceived on the first day of the lunar month, aborted by the fifteenth. Conception and simultaneous abortion leave no obvious traces. For visible miscarriages, where the fetus has formed, the patient feels it. For hidden miscarriages, where the fetus flows out like water, how does one know? Thus, many reckless individuals have no surviving children because they are unaware of hidden miscarriages. Men who marry prostitutes often have no sons because their uteri are slippery and accustomed to conceiving and aborting simultaneously. Additionally, some women miscarry repeatedly in the third or fifth months due to organ qi imbalance, even if weak. However, most cases result from unregulated sexual desire damaging maternal qi. Thus, those who rely on strength and indulge in lust often have no children, as strong and weak days destroy each other. Those who indulge without restraint often fail to raise children, as they damage the fetal origin qi. Is this entirely the woman's fault?
Fu Zheng commented: These are Zhang Jingyue's profound insights. The ancients said that regulating desire leads to many sons; this is the principle. People often lament infertility, not knowing that conceiving and then secretly damaging the fetus, repeatedly conceiving and repeatedly damaging, naturally results in lifelong childlessness. I knew a woman who was weak, with yin-yang imbalance, miscarrying several times, yet doctors had no strategy to secure the pregnancy, which is indeed despicable. Now, there is a miraculous formula, Sanhe Baotai Wan (Three-Combined Fetus-Securing Pill), proven effective repeatedly. Follow the prescription to prepare and take it; it will not fail.
Integrated Sanhe Baotai Wan (Three-Combined Fetus-Securing Pill): This is designed for those prone to habitual miscarriage. Frequent miscarriages, though caused by deficiency of Chong and Ren meridians and weakness of Spleen and Kidney, will not occur if the person has a calm temperament and no internal heat. Those prone to miscarriage often have a hot disposition, anger issues, excess Liver Qi, and deficient Liver Blood. Blood deficiency generates heat, scorching the uterus. Or, indulgence without restraint causes leakage and miscarriage. Current methods for securing pregnancy stick to ancient formulas using aromatic and warming herbs like Xiang Sha Xiong Ai, believing them safe. Using hot herbs to secure the fetus is like carrying firewood to save a fire; it not only fails but accelerates death. Now, combining three ancient formulas—Neibu Wan (Internal Tonification Pill), Duzhong Wan (Eucommia Pill), and Baizhu San (Atractylodes Powder)—we name it Sanhe Baotai Wan. Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) nourishes yin and tonifies Kidney; Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) nourishes blood and calms the mind; Bai Zhu (Atractodis Rhizoma) supports middle Qi and strengthens Spleen; Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) clears Liver fire and cools blood; Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex) benefits waist and knees and warms the uterus; Xu Duan (Dipsaci Radix) repairs damage and strengthens the womb. For extremely weak patients, add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix); for those unable to tolerate strong tonics, it can be omitted. Though the ingredients are common, the effect is miraculous. It fits perfectly, working swiftly. All prone to miscarriage will be preserved by taking it. It is truly a sacred medicine for gynecological pregnancy security. For those prone to miscarriage, start taking this pill in the first month of pregnancy. Miscarriage usually occurs in the third, fifth, or seventh months. During these months, avoid sexual intercourse and anger, as provoking them causes miscarriage. After the seventh month, there is no risk.
Da Huai Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix from Huaiqing, 12 liang): Cook with Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus, 1 liang) and Lao Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 1 liang) in clean water in a clay pot. When the Rehmannia is nearly soft, add Huang Jiu (Vinum, wine) and cook until the wine dries and the Rehmannia is mushy. Remove Sha Ren and Lao Jiang. Mash into a paste for use. Da Gui Shen Pian (Angelicae Sinensis Radix slices, 12 liang): Wash with wine and dry. Tu Chao Dong Bai Zhu Pian (Earth-fried Atractodis Rhizoma slices, 12 liang): If the pregnant woman is fat and pale, add 2 liang due to Qi deficiency. Shi Tiao Qin Pian (Solid Scutellariae Radix slices, 6 liang): Stir-fry with wine. If the pregnant woman is dark and thin, add 1 liang; if irritable, add 2 liang. Mian Du Zhong (Cotton Eucommiae Cortex, 12 liang): Stir-fry with salt water until fibers break. Chuan Xu Duan (Sichuan Dipsaci Radix, 12 liang): Stir-fry with wine.
Mix the latter five herbs, dry-roast, grind into fine powder, and sieve. Mix with the Shu Di Huang paste, add a little refined honey, and pound over a thousand times to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 3 qian with salt water in the morning and 3 qian with wine before bed. Do not miss any dose. Pregnant women who are inherently weak need two doses' worth of ingredients, continuing until the seventh month to ensure safety. This formula is miraculous and sacred; do not underestimate it.
