Wulingzhi San (Five-Spirit Powder): Treats metrorrhagia (profuse uterine bleeding) that does not stop, as well as syncope and unconsciousness due to blood loss.
Herbs: Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Dung), quantity unrestricted, stir-fried until smoke ceases, then ground into powder.
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with warm wine. Another prescription for metrorrhagia: take two qian of Wulingzhi, stir-fry until hot, add Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and wine, decoct together; or use half a zhan of water and half a zhan of Tongbian (Urine of a healthy young boy), decoct together and take (Wulingzhi expels turbid blood with miraculous effect; Tongbian clears fire and also moves turbidity, making their combined decoction particularly excellent). Another method: use half raw and half roasted Wulingzhi, grind into powder, mix with wine and take. Another method: decoct Wulingzhi in water until half dry, filter dregs, clarify the liquid, re-decoct into an ointment/paste, add Shenqu (Medicated Leaven) powder to form pills (the pill-making method for Shenqu originally uses vinegar decoction, as mentioned by Mr. Danxi), size like wutong seeds, take 20-30 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine to stop bleeding. Another method: take three qian per dose, decoct half a zhan each of water, wine, and Tongbian until reduced to 80%, take orally at once, named Choudao San (Knife-Drawing Powder), treats postpartum illness; after three doses, it disperses evil blood; or for unbearable pain in the heart, abdomen, hypochondrium, ribs, or legs, using only Tongbian is even better. For stroke patients, add half a qian of Caowutou (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix) and decoct together; it also treats Changfeng lower rectal bleeding. For those who do not drink alcohol, mix with decocted Wu Mei (Mume Fructus) and Baiye (Platycladi Cacumen) soup. If there is mental restlessness, dry mouth, and thirst, add Huyang (Polygoni Multiflori Caulis? Note: Context suggests Huangqin or similar heat-clearing, but text says Huyang/Coptis? Actually "Pu Huang" is mentioned later. Wait, text says "Jia Puhuang chao jian ban". So add Puhuang fried to half amount.) Add Puhuang (Lygodii Spora) fried to half the amount. Another method: equal parts of Wulingzhi and Puhuang, stir-fried together, named Shixiao San (Laughing Off Powder), treats various hemorrhages, and postpartum miscarriage where evil blood attacks the heart causing coma and unconsciousness (postpartum stasis inevitably causes metrorrhagia; regardless of duration, taking this is miraculous); also for severe colic in the heart and abdomen feeling like death, its efficacy is miraculous. It is truly a good emergency formula; every household should keep it. This medicine also detoxifies and heals snake, scorpion, and centipede bites when applied topically.
Xiangfu Zi San (Cyperus Powder): Treats metrorrhagia that does not stop, or leukorrhea of five colors. Also treats postpartum abdominal pain and continuous bleeding after spontaneous abortion. It is a fairy medicine for women; regular use benefits blood and regulates qi.
Herbs: Xiangfu Zi (Cyperi Rhizoma), quantity unrestricted, pounded to remove hairs, cut into sections, slightly stir-fried.
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take two qian per dose, mixed with clear rice drink to stop bleeding; mixed with good wine to break stagnation; taken with ginger soup for cold qi; taken with mugwort soup with a little vinegar for leukorrhea. (All four methods are excellent).
Zhufu Wan (Boiled Cyperus Pill): Treats metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, accumulations, and jia masses, with colic in the umbilical and abdominal regions. (Formula see Menstruation Regulation Section, Pain Clause) (Cold qi causes coagulation, and jia masses and abdominal pain are all due to qi coagulation. Xiangfu is heavy in weight, warm in nature, bitter and pungent in taste; bitterness enters the blood level, pungency disperses knotted qi; when qi moves, blood flows, so pain stops naturally).
Beijin San (Precious Gold Powder): Treats metrorrhagia in women that does not stop. (Suitable for metrorrhagia with internal stasis).
Herbs: Xiangfu Zi (Cyperi Rhizoma), stir-fried, four liang; Danggui Wei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix Cauda), one liang two qian; Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Dung), stir-fried, one liang.
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take five qian per dose, mixed with vinegar soup, taken on an empty stomach, with immediate effect.
Rushen San (Miraculous God Powder): Treats metrorrhagia that does not stop, and red and white leukorrhea.
Herbs: Xiangfu Zi (Cyperi Rhizoma), stir-fried; Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), stir-fried, equal parts.
Preparation and Administration: Grind into powder. Add a pinch of salt, decoct in water, take warm before meals. (Another method uses Xiangfu and Baizhi to form pills).
Lixiao San (Immediate Effect Powder): Treats metrorrhagia in women, with umbilical and abdominal pain. (These formulas all use blood-breaking agents).
Herbs: Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), stir-fried, three liang; Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), one liang; Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra); Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma), stir-fried; Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Dung), half liang each.
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take three qian per dose, decoct with one zhan of wine and a little Tongbian (Urine of a healthy young boy), and take.
Another Prescription: Treats metrorrhagia with umbilical and abdominal pain.
Herbs: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix); Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra); Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata); Xiangfu Zi (Cyperi Rhizoma); Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex); Muzei (Equiseti Herba), nodes removed, two liang each; Moyao (Myrrha); Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos); Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), bark removed, three qian each.
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Mix with wine, take three qian, warm administration.
Suosha San (Amomum Powder): Treats metrorrhagia.
Herbs: Suosha (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), quantity unrestricted, stir-fried until fragrant on a new tile, ground into fine powder. Take three qian mixed with rice drink.
Jiajian Siwu Tang (Modified Four Substances Decoction): Treats young girls whose Tian Gui (menstrual essence) arrives at age fourteen; some arrive late; some have sudden profuse flow dripping continuously, resembling metrorrhagia; due to excessive blood loss transforming into various syndromes, all are suitable for this formula.
Herbs: Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), four qian; Xiangfu Zi (Cyperi Rhizoma), stir-fried and de-haired, one qian half.
Preparation and Administration: Add five slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct in water, take before meals. If the blood color is bright red and does not stop, remove Shudihuang and add Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix). (Removing prepared Rehmannia and adding fresh Rehmannia, the reasoning should be pondered).
