Sanhe Jisheng Decoction: Formed by extracting the essence from three formulas—Zhike Formula, Xionggui Formula, and Dasheng Formula. It treats difficult labor; even if delivery has not occurred after one or two days, taking this decoction will naturally cause the fetus to rotate and descend for birth.
Dang Gui (3 qian), Chuan Xiong, Zhi Ke (bran-fried, each 2 qian), Xiang Fu Zi (fried), Da Fu Pi (washed with ginger juice, each 1.5 qian), Su Ye (8 fen), Fen Cao (7 fen).
The above herbs are decocted in water. Take when lower back and abdominal pain is severe, and delivery will occur immediately. Another prescription adds Bai Zhi (1 qian). (Adding Bai Zhi promotes the Qi of the Blood Sea.)
Foshou San (i.e., Xionggui Tang): Treats cases during pregnancy where a fall causes fetal death in the uterus, abnormal lochia flow, unceasing pain, lockjaw, and fainting. Use this medicine to probe; if the fetus is dead in the uterus, it will be expelled immediately; if abdominal pain stops, both mother and child are safe. It also treats difficult labor, retained placenta, postpartum blood syncope with loss of consciousness resembling stroke, metrorrhagia with continuous lochia, stabbing and cramping abdominal pain due to blood stasis, edema due to blood stagnation, blood entering the Heart Meridian causing delirious speech as if seeing ghosts, wind-blood interaction causing fever and headache, or symptoms resembling malaria but not quite. It treats all critical, desperate, and near-death conditions before and after childbirth.
Danxi stated: "For inducing labor, only use Foshou San; it is the safest and most effective."
Dang Gui (wine-washed, rhizome removed, 1 liang), Chuan Xiong (7 qian, another prescription uses equal parts).
The above are finely chopped and divided into four doses. For each dose, first decoct with one cup of water until nearly dry, then add one and a half cups of wine, boil for five to seven times, and take warm. (Adding wine is more effective, but usage depends on urgency.) If there is lockjaw, pry open the mouth and administer. After walking for about five li, administer another dose. After finishing these four doses, delivery occurs immediately, proving its divine efficacy. For dystocia with breech presentation or fetal death in utero, first stir-fry black soybeans until hot, add one cup of fresh well water and one cup of children's urine, decoct four qian of medicine, and take. If the placenta remains undelivered for five to seven days and the patient is dying, or for women with fused pubic symphysis (Gao Shi Nv Zi), add Gu Ban (Lizhai believed fused pubic symphysis is due to Yin Qi deficiency; turtles are extreme Yin, and their shells interlock, hence used). Also add hair from a woman who has given birth, burned to ash, taken at 3 qian mixed with wine.
Laisu San: Treats excessive exertion during labor leading to weak Qi and pulse, mental fatigue, dizziness, lockjaw, cyanotic face, straightened hair, and loss of consciousness.
Mu Xiang, Shen Qu, Chen Pi (white part removed), Mai Ya (fried), Huang Qi, E Jiao Zhu, Bai Shao Yao, Zhu Gen, Gan Cao (each 3 qian), Nuo Mi (1.5 he), Sheng Jiang (chopped and fried black, 1 qian).
The above are finely chopped and decocted in water. Administer via prying open the mouth; continuous administration is ideal. (The condition is critical, yet Ren Shen and Dang Gui are not used, but rather Shen Qu, Mai Ya, Chen Pi, and Zhu Gen. Why? Excessive exertion depleles Stomach Qi, so it is urgent to support and rescue Stomach Qi. This is another vital method.)
Heishen San (also known as Cuisheng Rushen San): Highly effective for transverse and breech presentations. Also treats deficiency syndromes before and after childbirth, menorrhagia, and metrorrhagia.
Baicao Shuang, Bai Zhi (not exposed to fire, equal parts).
The above are powdered. Take 2 qian per dose, mix with children's urine and rice vinegar to form a paste, and take with boiling water, or decoct with children's urine and wine for two doses. Black substances stop bleeding; this medicine strongly consolidates blood and prevents blood exhaustion, which is excellent. Another prescription adds Bai Huashi, taken mixed with Xionggui Tang.
Cuisheng Liying San: Treats difficult labor, transverse, and breech presentations.
Che Qian Zi, Dang Gui (each 1 liang), Dong Kui Zi, Bai Zhi (each 3 qian), Niu Xi, Da Fu Pi, Zhi Ke, Chuan Xiong (each 2 qian), Bai Shao Yao (1 qian).
The above are chopped, decocted in water, taken hot with a little wine, resulting in immediate delivery.
Yubai Pi San: Treats pregnancy with slippery fetus facilitating easy birth.
Yu Bai Pi, Gan Cao (each 2 liang), Kui Zi (1 liang).
The above are powdered. Take 5 qian per dose, decocted in water.
Another prescription uses only Yu Bai Pi, roasted dry and powdered. Near term, take one fang cun bi three times daily to facilitate easy delivery.
Rusheng San: Specifically treats difficult labor in pregnant women.
Zi Su Ye, Dang Gui (equal parts).
The above are chopped. Take 3-5 qian per dose, decocted in long-flowing water. If unavailable, use water stirred in the direction of the current.
Cuisheng San: Treats difficult labor and retained placenta.
Bai Zhi, Hua Shi, Fu Long Gan, Baicao Shuang (each 1 qian), Gan Cao (5 fen).
The above are finely powdered. Mix with Xionggui Tang, adding a little wine and children's urine, and take twice for immediate effect.
Cuisheng Yin: Treats difficult labor during delivery.
Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Da Fu Pi (washed), Zhi Ke (bran-fried), Bai Zhi (equal parts).
The above are chopped, decocted in water, and taken warm. Another prescription excludes Da Fu Pi and includes Yi Mu Cao and Huo Ma Ren.
Cuisheng Tang: Take only when the mother experiences abdominal and lower back pain and the amniotic sac ruptures. (This formula primarily breaks blood and is suitable for those with excess blood and robust Qi. It is ridiculous if modern practitioners do not distinguish between deficiency and excess of Qi and blood and use it indiscriminately.)
Tao Ren (roasted, skin removed), Chi Shao Yao, Mu Dan Pi, Guan Gui, Bai Fu Ling (skin removed, each 1 qian).
One dose is chopped, decocted in water, and taken hot.
Huoshui Wuyou San: Specifically treats full-term pregnancy where excessive sexual activity or consumption of hot-toxic foods leads to blood stasis interaction, causing transverse/difficult labor. If accidental trauma kills the fetus in utero, taking this medicine for one or two doses, plus two Wu Jin Wan pills, is as effective as a god. (Wu Jin Wan is missing here, see appendix.)
Yi Mu Cao (2 liang), Ji Xing Zi, Dang Gui (each 4 liang), Chen Zhi Ke (1 liang), Sheng Di Huang, Su Ye, Chi Shao Yao (each 2 qian), Rou Gui, Chuan Xiong, Chen Ai (each 1 qian), Gan Cao (8 fen), Live Carp (one).
Divide into two doses. For each dose, use three bowls of water. First, place the fish in the water, warm slightly over fire, and remove immediately; if the fish dies, efficacy is lost. Then add the herbs and decoct until two bowls remain. Just before taking, add one teaspoon of good vinegar. For each bowl of liquid, mix with one Wu Jin Wan pill. If the dead fetus does not descend, quickly re-decoct with rootless water and consume the dregs twice.
Qisheng San (also known as Qibao San): Can be taken when lower back pain occurs during labor.
Dang Gui, Yan Hu Suo, Xiang Bai Zhi (roasted), Bai Fan (Does Bai Fan solidify Kidney and consolidate blood?), Jiang Huang, Mo Yao, Gui Xin (equal parts).
The above are finely powdered. Take 3 qian per dose, quench a red-hot plowshare in wine, mix, and take. During contractions, one or two doses lead to immediate delivery.
Another prescription: Treats prolonged difficult labor with exhausted strength, indicating pre-existing illness. (Instead of tonifying Qi to treat the chronic condition, using a large dose of labor-inducing medicine is an emergency method for an emergency situation, which is brilliant.)
E Jiao (2 liang), Chi Xiao Dou (2 sheng).
Boil beans in nine sheng of water until cooked, strain, dissolve the gelatin, and take 5 he per dose. If no effect, take again. Within three doses, delivery occurs.
Shengjin San: Dystocia is often caused by the rupture of the 'child pillow' (uterine clot), which wraps around the fetus. Taking this medicine expels the bad blood, allowing natural birth, treating both transverse and breech presentations.
She Xiang Mo (1 qian, ground), Yan Chi (1 liang, wrapped in green cloth, heated red, and ground fine).
Take 1 qian per dose, quench a red-hot hammer in wine and swallow.
Another prescription: Treats transverse presentation with hands/feet protruding. (Can also be used for non-transverse presentations.)
E Jiao (roasted), Hua Shi (each 1 liang), Dong Kui Zi (1 he).
Take 4 qian per dose, decocted in water, take two to three consecutive doses. Another prescription adds Su You (1 liang).
You Mi Jian: Treats difficult labor with dried amniotic fluid and placenta, preventing fetal descent.
Mix one bowl each of Sesame Oil, Honey, and Urine. (This formula is simple and appropriate. Urine helps break blood and follows the principle of turbid Yin descending; external massage is even better.) Boil gently in a copper pot for one or two boils, skim foam, mix with 1 liang of Bai Huashi powder or Yi Mu Cao powder, stir well, and take at once. Externally, massage the mother's abdomen below the navel with oil and honey. Or, decoct one cup of oil and take it.
Another prescription uses only oil, honey, and urine to facilitate difficult delivery.
Tu Nao Wan (also known as Cuisheng Dan): Treats difficult labor, transverse, and breech presentations.
Tu Nao (from December, skin and membrane removed, ground into paste), Ming Ru Xiang (2.5 qian, finely ground), Mu Ding Xiang (powdered, 1 qian), She Xiang (1 zi, separately ground fine).
Grind uniformly, mix with Tu Nao marrow to form pills the size of a chicken head, dry in shade, seal in oiled paper. Take one pill with warm water after water breaks for immediate delivery.
Zha Mu Yinzi: Treats difficult labor, whether transverse or inverted, with putrefied fetus and abdominal distension/bloating.
Sheng Zha Mu (a large handful, one chi long, washed, cut into inches, used raw), Gan Cao (large piece, 5 cun, cut into five segments).
Place in a new porcelain bottle with 3.5 sheng of fresh well water, seal tightly with triple-layered paper, and decoct over moderate heat until 1.5 sheng remains. When the mother feels heavy lower back pain and is ready to squat (sit on grass), drink a small cup warm. She will feel relief in the chest. If thirsty, drink another cup. After three to four cups, feeling heaviness in the lower body indicates birth. This formula is highly effective.
Cuisheng Rusheng San
Huang Shu Kui Zi (as needed), roasted dry and powdered. Take 2 qian mixed with hot wine for divine effect. If seeds are unavailable, flowers can be used. For fetal leakage with dried blood and extreme pain, take three doses. After a while, abdominal Qi relaxes, the fetus slides out easily. Must wait for normal labor signs before taking. For traumatic dead fetus, take with Hong Hua wine. Song: "Seventy roasted Huang Kui seeds, ground fine and mixed with wine to aid your urgency. When facing critical dystocia, it saves the whole family from weeping."
Cuisheng Ruyi San: Treats transverse and inverted presentations.
Ren Shen, Ru Xiang (each 1 qian), Chen Sha (2 qian, another prescription uses 5 fen).
Powder the above. At onset of labor, mix one egg white with the powder, dilute with ginger juice, and take cold for immediate smooth delivery, ensuring mother and child are safe.
Cuisheng Qiandan: Treats transverse/difficult labor. (This is a purgative/heavy drug; do not try lightly.)
Melt 1 qian of Hei Qian in a small pot over fire, add 1 qian of Shui Yin, stir rapidly until it forms sand-like grains. Pour out, wrap corners of boiled silk cloth into pills the size of mung beans. At labor, swallow two pills with She Xiang water for immediate delivery.
Santui San: Treats transverse/difficult labor with fetal death in utero.
She Tui (one strip), Chan Tui (14 pieces), Ren Tui (men's hair, add a ball the size of an egg).
Burn all to ash, powder, divide into three doses, take with wine.
Huatai San: Divine efficacy in inducing labor.
Yiyuan San (1 liang), She Tui (one strip, burned to ash retaining nature), Chan Tui (five whole pieces, burned to ash), Chuan Shan Jia (one piece, burned to ash retaining nature), Nan Zi Luan Fa (one ball, melted in sesame oil).
Powder the above. Mix with one bowl of Ji Shui (fermented grain residue water), boil twice, add hair ash, mix well, let cool, and take for immediate delivery.
Another prescription: Treats awkward delivery.
She Tui (one whole strip), Can Tui (one sheet).
Place in a new tile jar, seal with salt mud, burn to ash retaining nature, powder. Decoct Yu Bai Pi soup, mix with 1 qian of powder, take three doses. Birth occurs upon feeling pain.
Another prescription: Burn one whole She Tui to ash, add one zi of She Xiang, mix with wine, take 2 qian facing east. For transverse/breech presentation, apply remaining dregs to protruding limbs to guide them back.
Shenxiao Ru Chao Dan: Treats difficult labor.
Ming Ru Xiang powdered, formed into pills the size of Tung seeds with Pig Xin Xue, coated with Zhu Sha, dried in sun. Take one pill per dose, chew and swallow with cold wine. If no birth after a while, take another. Alternatively, decoct seven Lotus Leaf Stems in water, dissolve two pills, take. If no birth after a while, take another.
If amniotic fluid dries first and fetus cannot descend, urgently take a large dose of Siwu Tang to nourish blood and Qi. Also, fumigate and wash the vulva with strong Scallion soup, apply candle oil inside the vulva, then take the previous medicine.
If dead fetus does not descend, take 5 qian of Pu Xiao mixed with boiling water (this is an emergency measure of last resort). Or send down with Pingwei San. If placenta is undelivered, take one pill with wine/water for immediate expulsion.
If the birth canal does not open, use Jiawei Xionggui Tang and still take two pills.
This medicine is as effective as a god. It should be prepared at noon on May 5th, or July 7th, March 3rd, or the Chen day of the beginning of the month.
Another prescription: Powder equal parts Ru Xiang and Zhu Sha, take with She Xiang mixed in wine.
Another prescription: Take a piece of clear Ru Xiang the size of a soap pod, powder it. When lower back pain occurs, mix with a little cold water and vinegar, take while standing. Hold two Stone Swallow stones in both hands, walk around, then squat to give birth without pain.
Another prescription: Finely grind Ru Xiang, on May 5th, drop water to form pills the size of a chicken head. Take one pill with non-ash wine, named Kaigu Gao.
Another prescription: Use large Zhu Sha, start drying on Dragon Boat Festival, continue for 100 days, grind to fine powder. Take腊月 Tu Nao Sui (marrow of rabbit brain from the twelfth lunar month), form pills the size of mung beans. Take one pill with porridge drink when labor begins; birth occurs after a while. Do not let Zhu Sha get wet while drying.
Rushen San: Repeatedly effective and reliable for inducing labor. Although hard to explain theoretically, it is extremely effective in practice. (A wonderful prescription.)
Take one pair of straw sandals from the road, take the rope from the bridge area, wash clean, burn to ash. Mix with children's urine and wine, take 3 qian. Also known as Qianli Ma; this medicine is truly magical.
Duanju Fang: Treats transverse/inverted presentation with hands/feet protruding first.
Pierce the baby's hands/feet with a coarse needle about 2 fen deep. The pain startles the baby, causing it to retract and turn naturally for smooth delivery.
Another prescription: Apply salt to the baby's soles, scratch vigorously, and rub salt on the mother's abdomen for immediate delivery.
Huangjin San: Treats difficult delivery lasting one or two days; takes effect like a god. (A strange prescription, mainly relying on sedation/purging, capable of inducing and calming birth, truly not false.)
Five large pieces or seven small pieces of real Gold Foil. Put a little water in a small porcelain cup, remove paper, add gold, grind evenly with finger. Add water to half the cup. Have someone support the mother in a semi-sitting position. Have a woman press the Jian Jing acupoints on both shoulders of the mother with her thumbs. Take the previous medicine warm, and the fetus descends. This is a holy medicine for inducing labor; if the month is not full, it can also calm the fetus.

Cuisheng Wanjin Buchuan Yuxian Dan
Bi Ma Zi (14 kernels, shell removed), Zhu Sha, Xiong Huang (each 1.5 qian), She Tui (one chi, burned to ash retaining nature).
Powder the above, mix with Jiang Shui fan to form pills the size of a marble. At labor, first pour Pepper Soup (the method of pepper soup is especially wonderful) over the lower abdomen. Place one pill in the navel, cover with several layers of wax paper, bind with a wide cloth. Shortly after, the baby is born. Remove the medicine immediately; one pill can be used three times.
Rusheng Gao: Treats difficult labor, retained placenta, and dead fetus.
Seven Bi Ma Zi kernels, shell removed, ground fine into paste. Apply to the sole of the foot; the placenta will descend. Wash off quickly; otherwise, intestines may prolapse. Apply this paste to the top of the head instead, and the intestines will retract. (Why does this method sometimes fail?)
Another prescription: 100 Bi Ma Zi, 1 qian Xiong Huang, ground fine, apply as above.
Another prescription: Three Bi Ma Zi, four Ba Dou (Ba Dou may injure the navel), shells removed, mixed with fine She Xiang, applied to the navel. Song: "Three hemp, four beans, strip clothes, grind and add musk. If a woman suffers dystocia, apply to the navel, split apart."
Lisheng Dan: Treats difficult labor with transverse/adverse bad signs, dead fetus retention, and other divine validations.
Han Shi (4 liang, half raw, half calcined/red, ground fine) (Using cold stimulation is also a method, but must be applied according to the individual, do not try blindly), Zhu Sha.
Grind together until deep peach-blossom colored. Take 3 fen per dose, mix well water into a thin paste. Cut paper flowers the size of apricot leaves, spread the paste on them, apply to the center of the navel. Change when dry. Within three applications, birth occurs.
