同治二年夏五月仁和后学唐文溶谨跋
There is a reclusive gentleman in Haichang named Mr. Wang, who embodies the Dao within himself and uses medicine to benefit the world. Initially, he resided in Hangzhou. At that time, I was merely a child, yet I had already heard of his countless healings. However, due to my ignorance as a child, I dared not lightly seek an audience with him. Later, the Master returned to his native place and traveled through various areas such as Hangzhou and Jiaxing (He). Wherever he went, people admired him greatly, and his fame shook the Wu-Yue region. I felt even more regretful that due to the long and obstructed road, I could not attend to his teachings. This year, I worked together with Mr. Zhuang Meixian from Xiushui in Shanghai (Shenjiang), enjoying our morning and evening interactions. Seeing the Master's major work *Wenre Jingwei* (Classic of Warm Diseases) on his desk, before I had finished reading it, the Master happened to visit. Consequently, Mr. Zhuang was able to personally receive instruction from the Master's demeanor. For over ten years, my longing has been somewhat comforted, and I have learned that the Master also resides in Shanghai under rent due to fleeing disaster. From now on, I can often follow in his footsteps, which is indeed not merely a momentary joy or fortune.
