Hebao Cao (Hepao Grass), with a sweet taste and neutral nature, is cold in property and non-toxic. It mainly treats symptoms such as night fever and consumptive disease (Xu Lao) in women. For children's malnutrition fever (Gan Re) and red, painful eyes, decocting it in water for oral administration yields miraculous effects. Long-term consumption can eliminate parasitic worms caused by chronic illness and promote weight gain.

Jinsi Jiegu Cao (Golden Thread Bone-Setting Grass), with pungent and sweet tastes and a neutral nature. It treats pain in muscles and bones and flaccidity caused by phlegm-fire. Decoct in water and take with a small amount of wine, or soak in wine for use.
Recipe: Jinsi Jiegu Cao (5 qian), Quan Dang Gui (5 qian), Chuan Niu Xi (5 qian), Guizhi (3 qian), Mugua (3 qian). Use 3 jin of high-quality wine, simmer over alternating mild and strong heat for the time it takes to burn one incense stick. Remove from heat, eliminate the "fire toxicity," and take morning and evening for efficacy.
Another medicinal wine recipe: Specifically treats hemiplegia, flaccidity due to wind-phlegm, musculoskeletal pain, and phlegm-fire, with remarkable efficacy.
Ingredients: Jinsi Jiegu Cao (1 liang), Dang Gui (5 qian), Shu Di Huang (3 qian), Hang Shao Yao (1.5 qian), Qin Jiao (2 qian), Fu Ling (3 qian), Sha Shen (3 qian, processed), Qiannian Jian (0.5 qian), Zuandi Feng (0.5 qian), Chuan Xiong (3 qian), Duhuo (1.5 qian), Chuan Niu Xi (2 qian), Sheng Di Huang (3 qian), Wujia Pi (1.5 qian), Duzhong (2 qian), Fangfeng (1 qian), Chuan Wu (2 qian, processed), Sangjisheng (2 qian), Gusuibu (2 qian), Mugua (3 qian), Sheng Gancao (0.5 qian). Add 5 jin of good wine, along with longan aril and Shaanxi dates in unlimited quantities. Simmer over alternating mild and strong heat for the time it takes to burn one incense stick. Remove, eliminate fire toxicity, warm before bed, drink several cups, and immediate effect is expected. Avoid pig head, duck, fish, mutton, eggs, garlic, and raw/cold foods.
──Congben Volume Lower
Yangdu Shen (Sheep Stomach Root), with bitter and pungent tastes and slightly warm nature. Non-toxic. Its action targets the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. It nourishes blood, tonifies the liver, strengthens muscles and bones, and unblocks meridians to activate collaterals. It treats flaccidity of hands and feet, hemiplegia, wandering phlegm, and blood bi syndrome. (Bi syndrome is formed by the combination of wind, cold, and dampness; numbness due to blood deficiency also constitutes bi.) It treats musculoskeletal pain and dampness migrating through joints. It treats furuncles and wind-pain. Mugua serves as the guiding herb, and sha jiu (burnt wine/liquor) acts as the vehicle. Long-term consumption generates and nourishes blood, extending lifespan.
(Complementary Annotation Rare Formula)
Ingredients: Yangdu Shen (8 liang), Dang Gui (3 liang), Chuan Xiong (1.5 liang), Mugua (5 qian), Chuan Niu Xi (5 qian), Shinan Teng (5 qian), Hugu (1 liang, fried with butter), Baxian Cao (1 liang). Use 8 jin of good sha jiu. Place herbs in a cloth bag, tie tightly, and stew over water using alternating mild and strong heat for three incense sticks' duration. Cool down completely. Drink when warmed at any time.
(Clinical Case) Previously, a patient suffered from hemiplegia, numbness and insensitivity of hands and feet, and musculoskeletal pain. Treatment used Yangdu Shen (3 liang), Mugua (1 liang), and 2 jin of sha jiu. Boiled for three incense sticks' duration, buried in clean soil overnight to remove fire toxicity, warmed before sleep, drinking three cups per dose, resulting in recovery within ten days.
