Guanzhong (Cyrtomium fortunei Rhizome), which is the root of the fern vegetable. It tastes salty and astringent, and its nature is cold. It dispels toxicity, stops bleeding, and resolves water toxicity. During the second and third lunar months, soak it in a basin of water. When used, remove the hairs, slice it, place it over fire, dip it in white wine juice, and bake it dry.
(Attached Prescription) For treating leukorrhea in women. The preparation method is as above. Grind into powder and take with boiled water.
(Another Formula) For treating continuous bleeding from knife wounds.
Guanzhong (hair removed), Hair Ash (stir-fried into powder), Longgu (Fossil Bones, powdered), each in equal parts. Grind together into fine powder and apply to the affected area. It can stop bleeding, contract the wound, and promote tissue regeneration.
Qixingcao (Dichondra repens or similar herb), tastes sweet, nature is cold, non-toxic. This herb resembles a chicken's foot, has yellow spots on it, grows according to the number of stars, either lying flat on the ground or growing on stones. Harvesting and taking it treats sand strangury, bloody strangury, white turbidity, and cold strangury. It can also be wrapped around the umbilicus to treat Yin syndromes. Applied externally, it treats severe toxic sores.
Shiwei (Pyrrosiae Folium), tastes bitter, nature is cold, enters the Small Intestine meridian. Promotes urination, unblocks five types of strangury, and stops pain in the penis. The root dissipates stagnant Qi causing distension in the chest and diaphragm, and clears steaming heat. When used, scrape off the hairs; if the hairs are not completely removed, they may induce coughing.
(Attached Prescription) For treating hand tremors and shaking, taking this will cure it.
Shiwei root, decocted in water and taken frequently like tea.

Shiwei, taste bitter, flavor neutral, slightly toxic. Remove the hairs on the leaves before use. Mainly treats labor-heat and pathogenic Qi, five types of retention of urine with obstruction, promotes urination through the water passages, relieves irritability, directs Qi downward, unblocks the Bladder, and treats strangury.

Baiguo (Ginkgo Semen), tastes sweet and neutral, nature is cold. It is born of Yin Qi, thus flowers at night. Do not eat too much; consuming one thousand seeds will cause death. Harvest the leaves and dry them in the shade. Treat pediatric "fire generation" (a skin condition) by mixing with vegetable oil and applying to the skin surface, for wind-blood conditions or large sores that fail to suppurate. Baiguo flesh steamed with glutinous rice, mixed with honey to form pills, or pounded with walnuts into a paste and taken, treats dysphagia and regurgitation, and also treats white turbidity and cold strangury. Additionally, Baiguo flesh pounded and applied to the Taiyang acupoint stops cephalalgia due to wind and eye pain. Dripping the juice into the throat treats eighteen types of throat disorders. Pounded fruit applied to unnamed swellings and toxins that fail to erupt.
── Wuben Volume 1 Lower
Baiguo, tastes sweet and bitter, nature is warm, slightly toxic. Raw consumption induces infantile malnutrition (gan syndrome). Hot consumption warms the Lungs, calms coughing, and reduces urination. Overconsumption obstructs Qi flow causing distension and stirs up wind. In children, excessive intake causes coma and convulsions, inducing parasitic expulsion from gan accumulation. Consuming it with fishy-smelling herbs causes flaccidity.
The *Yanshou Jing* states: "Eating one thousand Baiguo seeds causes death. In past famines, starving people ate Baiguo until full with their rice; the next day they died."
Harvest leaves, pound into a paste, and apply to freckles; this is very effective.
Harvest bark, burn to ash, mix with oil, and apply to tinea corporis (cow-skin ringworm) and tinea capitis (coin-shaped ringworm); this is most effective.
