(Heli Le [Hezi, Chebulae Fructus]: When using Hezi, do not use Bilile, Yanlile, Langjingle, Zalule, or Ruolile. Among these names, only "Heli Le" is authentic. Others such as "Lule", "Bilule", etc., regardless of whether they have six, eight, or thirteen ridges, are mixed counterfeit products. They are round and exposed, with varying patterns. For processing, first soak the Hezi in wine, then steam for one fu time (approx. 2 hours). Peel off the skin with a knife, cut into fine segments, dry by baking, and use.)
(Hezi is a sacred medicine for treating sand-rash [Shazhen]. After administration, toxins will naturally exit, and death can be avoided.)
(After harvesting Hezi, sun-dry it, mix with wine to moisten and soak until wet, then steam until the skin becomes soft. Peel off the skin, take out the flesh, and remove the core. Do not use the core alone. If the core is to be used, crush it and boil in jiangshui (acidic water) for one fu time before use. If using the flesh, do not use the core; if using the core, do not use the flesh. Huixiang [Foeniculum Vulgare] serves as its guiding herb.)
(Chunmugen [Cedrelae Radix Cortex]: When using, select roots from plants not growing towards the west, or do not use the leaves, only the root. After harvesting, mix with raw scallions, steam for half a day. Cut the raw scallions finely, place in a bag, and hang on the south side of the house to dry in shade. This method is mainly used to promote urination in cases of dysuria. Another method involves washing the root bark clean, mixing with wine, and stir-frying.)
(When using, avoid contact with copper and iron, and do not use fruits that have been startled by fire (indicating inferior quality), as these are small with fine textures and lack rice-like spots. Stir-fry before use. Grind thoroughly in a mortar made of sandstone or hard stone using jiangshui, then bake dry and grind into powder. Do not pound directly, as it may turn black like rhinoceros horn.)
(Those that are red in color are poisonous; use the white ones. Soak in licorice water overnight, scrape off the black skin with a knife, break into four or five pieces. Soak again in licorice decoction overnight, then steam from Si hour to Wei hour (approx. 4-6 hours), take out and sun-dry. Mix with wine as before, steam from Si to Wei hour, and sun-dry. Another method: soak in Atractylodes decoction, peel, and slice. Nongpu [Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex], Yuanhua [Genkwa Flos], Xugen [Polygoni Multiflori Caulis? Note: Context implies specific herb], and Lishi serve as guiding herbs. It opposes Gegen [Puerariae Lobatae Radix].)
(Those with a ruddy-red texture are superior. When using, remove the coarse skin and nodes. If there is a horizontal texture in the center resembling a purple horn, it is called "Muzhongzun", with a very deep color and value hundreds of times higher. Must be cut into fine segments, pounded heavily, mixed with fine plum branches, steamed from Si hour to Shen hour (approx. 5-6 hours), taken out, and dried in shade.)
(When using Sichuan pepper, only select shells without internal wrinkles. Dahanjiao uses the shell, while Hujiao uses the seed. After each refining process, grind into powder in a stone trough for use.)
(Remove the shell, stir-fry, and grind immediately before use.)
(It primarily treats various types of jaundice. Boil thickly, drink the juice, which is effective.)
(Eating it together with goose meat can cause wind diseases leading to broken joints. It can also cause upward congestion in the skin. Consuming it contrary to mung beans can be fatal. Avoid foods associated with fire qi.)
