See formula in "Shu Men" (Summerheat Section).

Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Jupi, 1.5 liang), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang, 1 qian), Talcum (Huashi, 6 liang), Arecae Semen (Binglang, 3 qian), Poria (Fuling, 1 liang), Polyporus (Zhuling), Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi, each 0.5 liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 2 qian).

Tingli Muxiang San (Descurainiae Seed and Aucklandia Powder) treats residual damp-heat inside and outside causing edema, abdominal distension, red and astringent urination, and diarrhea.
Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Seminis (Tingli, Poria, Polyporus, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 1 liang), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang, 0.5 qian), Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie), Akebiae Caulis (Mutong), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, each 0.5 liang), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi, 0.5 liang), Talcum (Huashi, 3 liang).
Grind into powder; take 3 qian each time, mixed with warm water.
Note: The above formulas are derived from the medication principles of the Taiyang (Greater Yang) pattern in Shanghan Lun. He Jian said: If urination is obstructed but diarrhea occurs instead, this indicates severe damp-heat stagnation and oppression. Forcing purgation will not resolve the blockage but may cause profuse diarrhea. This signifies depletion of righteous qi and is difficult to save; such cases must not be treated with these methods. Instead, one should nourish the source of transformation (Spleen/Stomach Qi).
Dongyuan Qingzao Tang (Dongyuan Clear Dryness Decoction) treats damp-heat in both exterior and interior causing flaccidity syndrome, cold limbs, paralysis, inability to walk, or swelling and pain in ankles and knees, dry mouth, and diarrhea/dysentery.
See formula in "Wei Men" (Flaccidity Syndrome Section).
Note: This formula is indispensable for cases of dual deficiency of Yin and Yang with severe damp-heat.
Danggui Niantong Tang (Angelica Joint-Pain Relieving Decoction)

Note: This is a formula for treating excess damp-heat.
Gouti San (Melon Seed Powder) treats cold-damp invading the middle causing headache, yellow complexion, nasal congestion, irritability, and a large pulse.
Cucumeris Fructus (Gouti, ground alone into powder).
Blow a small amount of powder into the nose; watery discharge will flow out naturally.
Note: For cases where excessive dampness generates phlegm retained in the upper jiao, causing heaviness and pain in the shoulders and back, and numbness, this emetic method is appropriate. This also belongs to the medication principles of the Taiyang pattern.
Purgative Formulas
Xuanming Sanhua Shenyao Wan (Xuanming Three-Flower Divine Protection Pill) treats all water-dampness swelling diseases, characterized by abdominal distension and fullness, asthma, and chest oppression.

Grind into powder, make pills with water the size of paulownia seeds. Take 40–50 pills each time with decocted water, adjusting according to symptoms.
Note: The above formulas are derived from the medication principles of the Yangming (Yang Brightness) pattern in Shanghan Lun. They are also blood and qi-regulating agents; severe damp-heat cannot be cleared without them. However, stop taking them once the disease is addressed; use with caution in deficient patients. Therefore, Zhang Shouzhen also stated: Those whose righteous qi is already depleted should not receive Tingli Muxiang San, let alone the aforementioned drugs.
Yugong San (Yugong Powder)

Note: This formula is derived from the medication principles of the Taiyang pattern. For dampness stagnating in the interior and exterior with heavy, fixed pain, this formula is necessary for clearance.

Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Seminis (Kutingli, 4 liang, stir-fried), Poria (Fuling, baked in Han Shi flour), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang), Arecae Semen (Binglang), Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix (Hanfangji), Akebiae Caulis (Mutong), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, each 2.5 qian).

Grind into powder, make pills with jujube flesh the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills each time with mulberry root bark decoction.
Note: The above three formulas belong to the medication principles of the Taiyang pattern; their potency should be compared and selected according to severity.
