《图经》衍义无虚,医者可知端的。
Examining prescriptions is like examining laws; the intent lies in precision and detail. Using medicines is like using troops; opportunities for action must not be lightly seized. Since the natures of herbs and plants have been stated, rules should also be established for substances derived from humans and animals.
"Lü" (Law/Rule) refers to standards. Just as punishments are used to enforce order, using medicine is akin to military strategy, implying that physicians hold the power over life and death.
Tianlinggai (Cranium Bone) primarily treats Chuanshi (a contagious wasting disease). It addresses chronic deficiency consumption where heat steams within the bones.
Tianlinggai refers to the vertex bone of a corpse's skull that has split in a cross shape. This bone naturally covers all other skeletal joints. For Yang-pattern conditions, Yin-substances are used; for Yin-pattern conditions, Yang-substances are used. Its taste is salty and neutral, non-toxic. It treats Chuanshi and Guizhu (ghostly affections/transmissible tuberculosis).
In cases of febrile diseases manifesting as Yang-toxin induced madness, human fecal juice should be sought. For traumatic injuries or recent postpartum conditions, urine from an uncircumcised boy should be rapidly obtained.
Renfen (Human Feces), also known as Renzhonghuang, is cold in nature and non-toxic. It specifically treats epidemic high fever and Laoqi Guzheng (deficiency heat steaming from the bones). It is administered by burning it to ash and mixing with water; it can detoxify various poisons when taken as powder mixed with decoction; and for febrile madness, fresh fecal juice is squeezed and drunk. Tongzhan Ni (Urine of a Boy) refers to the urine of an uncircumcised boy; female urine is not suitable. It treats alternating chills and fever, deficiency consumption, headache, and dampness.
Ruzhi (Breast Milk) possesses efficacy in treating eye disorders. Dang (The crotch area of trousers) can treat Yin-Yi and Yang-Yi (post-febrile sexual transmission syndromes).
Feminine breast milk is sweet and neutral, non-toxic. It calms the Five Zang organs and nourishes the skin. Zhang Cang of ancient times frequently consumed it, living over a hundred years. *Yanyi* states: Why does breast milk have such great efficacy for eyes? The heart governs blood, and the liver stores blood; when the liver receives blood, vision is possible. A woman's blood transforms upward into breast milk and downward into menstrual flow; thus, using it to treat the eyes is appropriate. "Dang" refers to the fabric covering the genital area of trousers. Cut a piece approximately 6-7 inches square, burn to ash, and ingest. If a man recovers from illness and engages in intercourse with a woman, he contracts Yin-Yi; if a woman recovers and engages with a man, she contracts Yang-Yi. Symptoms include severe lower abdominal pain, spasms of hands and feet, visual hallucinations ("seeing flowers"), and heavy head unable to lift. Without urgent treatment, death ensues. Men use the woman's crotch fabric; women use the man's. Mix with water and take orally.
Xueyu (Hair Ash) regulates various Lin syndromes and breaks up blood stasis; disordered hair is originally Xueyu. It stops hematemesis and epistaxis, and manages Feiwei (lung atrophy). Xuangou (Urine Sediment) is Renzhongbai.
Xueyu is the carbonized ash of common human hair. It is bitter and slightly warm, non-toxic. It treats carbuncles and Zhuanbao (retention of urine due to bladder displacement). Renzhongbai is the white sedimentary crust found at the bottom of urinals. Burned to ash over fire, it effectively treats Jinchi (tight/dry lips) and Lao-Re Chuanshi (heat-induced transmissible wasting).
The records in *Tujing* and *Yanyi* are not false; physicians may understand the truth herein.
