看脚掌部位，则知虚实寒热证候，日前惯投其药，尽皆知之。此法最服世人。
大趾里面属木，小趾外面属金，脚趾头为前属火，脚掌心涌泉属土，脚后跟为后属水。
土克水时黑耳，水克火如斑紫，火克金知悲喘，金克木即痈疽，木克土知脱齿，
离部痘红紫，腰间有黑疔，巽坤有紫赤，胁下有斑纹，灰白浆难满，还该出一层，白
则多泄泻，寒战切牙生，耳后筋纹淡淡轻轻，细小一定无凶，若逢红赤粗大者，不
堪同例一般功，耳后筋纹黑色，肾经发者无疑，将来必主黑陷，神工妙药难医。
手中心歌∶手心宜少不宜多，品定梅花两眼 ，若还二虎排行立，任遇神仙损一个。
手上下歌∶上下均匀不消嫌，天庭疏朗及涌泉，四肢若无三四粒，九日痂完十日全。
手左右歌∶左右无痘甚堪惊，舌卷囊缩九日倾，若还挨过十四日，手脚心胸定发痈。
邵公曰∶人之有脚掌，犹百木之有根，人之有头面，如树之有枝桠。枝桠茂盛，枝
根亦该茂盛；枝桠枯槁，树根亦该枯槁，反此则上下不相应也。如看人之面部痘色或
青或红，或白或绿或黄，而下部脚掌之色不相应者，必是庸医误投药饵所致，一看便知误于何药，其验如神。
前脚指歌∶离宫正色红，下面亦相同，
若还紫赤色，误服热药攻。（误在香附、官桂、附子之类。）
后脚跟歌∶坎宫正色暗，下面亦相同，若还反带黄，误吞发散药。（误在羌活、防风、升麻之类。）
大指里歌∶震宫正色青，下面该相应，若还反带白，误投 与参。（误在补气太早。）
小指外歌∶兑宫正色白，下头亦此色，若还反惨暗，误在服凉药。（误在紫草、生地、芩连之类。）
足底中歌∶中心正色黄，涌泉该亦黄，若还反带青，庸医用大黄。（不当用大黄而用之。）
Observe the divine and effective diagram of the sole. By examining the condition of the sole, one can determine the syndromes of deficiency/excess (Xu/Shi) and cold/heat (Han/Re). The medications previously habitually administered are already known to all. This method is most accepted by the world.
The medial side of the great toe belongs to Wood; the lateral side of the little toe belongs to Metal; the toes as a whole represent the front and belong to Fire; the center of the sole at Yongquan (KI-1, Gushing Spring) belongs to Earth; and the heel represents the back and belongs to Water.
When Earth overcomes Water, the sole turns black; when Water overcomes Fire, purple-black spots appear; when Fire overcomes Metal, sorrowful panting can be known; when Metal overcomes Wood, carbuncles and sores (Yong Ju) occur; when Wood overcomes Earth, tooth loss can be known.
In the Li sector (corresponding to Heart/Fire), pustules are red-purple; there are black ding sores (acute suppurative lesions) on the waist; in the Xun-Kun sectors (corresponding to Liver/Gallbladder/Spleen/Stomach areas), purple-red colors appear; there are streaks under the hypochondrium; gray-white pus fails to fill, and another layer of rash should still emerge. If the color is white, diarrhea, chills, and teeth grinding are likely. If the veins behind the ear are faint, light, and fine, there is certainly no danger. However, if they are red, crimson, thick, and large, they cannot be judged by the same standard. If the veins behind the ear are black, it is undoubtedly a disease of the Kidney Meridian, and future internal collapse (Hei Xian) is certain; even with miraculous skills and medicines, it is difficult to cure.
Song of the Palm Center: Pustules on the palm center should be few rather than many; carefully distinguish them like plum blossoms with two eyes. If they stand in rows like "two tigers," even an immortal would lose a patient.
Song of the Upper and Lower Hand: Even distribution above and below needs no concern; the forehead (Tian Ting) should be clear and Yongquan should correspond. If there are only three or four grains on the four limbs, scabs will form in nine days and healing will be complete in ten days.
Song of the Left and Right Hand: It is alarming if there are no pustules on the left and right sides; if tongue retraction and scrotal retraction occur, collapse happens within nine days. If one survives fourteen days, carbuncles will definitely develop on the hands, feet, chest, and heart area.
Master Shao said: Humans having soles is like hundred trees having roots; humans having faces/head is like trees having branches. If branches are lush, roots should also be lush; if branches are withered, roots should also be withered. Conversely, upper and lower parts do not correspond. For example, observing facial pustule colors—whether green, red, white, green, or yellow—if the color of the sole below does not correspond, it must be caused by quacks administering wrong medications. One can see immediately which medication was mistaken, and its verification is like magic.
Song of the Front Toes: The correct color of the Li Palace is red, and the lower part should be the same. If it shows purple-crimson, hot-natured drugs were mistakenly taken for attack. (Mistakenly using Xiang Fu, Guan Gui, Fu Zi, etc.)
Song of the Heel: The correct color of the Kan Palace is dark, and the lower part should be the same. If it contrary shows yellow, dispersing drugs were mistakenly swallowed. (Mistakenly using Qiang Huo, Fang Feng, Sheng Ma, etc.)
Song of the Inside of the Great Toe: The correct color of the Zhen Palace is green, and the lower part should correspond. If it contrary shows white, tonifying Qi herbs and Ginseng were mistakenly administered. (Mistakenly tonifying Qi too early.)
Song of the Outside of the Little Toe: The correct color of the Dui Palace is white, and the lower part should be this color. If it contrary appears pale and dark, cooling drugs were mistakenly taken. (Mistakenly using Zi Cao, Sheng Di, Qin Lian, etc.)
Song of the Center of the Sole: The correct color of the center is yellow, and Yongquan should also be yellow. If it contrary shows green, quacks used Da Huang. (Da Huang should not have been used but was.)
