陈实功曰∶眼胞菌毒乃脾经蕴热凝结而成也。其患眼胞内生出如菌,头大蒂小,

又曰∶宜内服凉膈散、清脾饮。

*Zhengzong* (Orthodox Standard) states: Taiyin Fa (Taiyin Abscess) is a condition of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, which is characterized by abundant Qi and scarce Blood. It occurs at the Tongzihui acupoint (Tongziliao, BL1) on the outer canthus of the eye (located 0.5 cun lateral to the outer canthus).
If the area is red, swollen, suppurative, and painful upon palpation, the prognosis is good; if there is intense thirst, restlessness and confusion, unceasing bleeding, or if the lesion turns cyanotic/black, is painless, forms a fungating ulcer, and death ensues when the blood is exhausted.
Chen Shigong states: Yanbao Jun Du (Eye Lid Fungus Toxin) is formed by the condensation of latent heat in the Spleen Meridian. The manifestation involves a mushroom-like growth emerging from within the eyelid, with a large head and small stalk, gradually growing larger and prolapsing. In severe cases, it causes eversion of the eyelid, tearing, and visual obscuration. Treatment method: Apply soft cotton paper soaked in water onto the affected eyelid. After a short while, use the thumbnail of the left hand to cushion the base of the lesion, and use the tip of a lancet held in the right hand to cut flush with the base. Bleeding is not a concern; immediately apply a thick paste made from Cuiyun Ding (Emerald Cloud Stick), and the bleeding will stop spontaneously. (*Zhengzong*)
It further states: Internal administration of Liangge San (Cool the Diaphragm Powder) and Qingpi Yin (Clear the Spleen Drink) is suitable.
*Xinfa* (Heart Method) states: This condition initially resembles a fungus, with a large head and small stalk, appearing yellowish and glistening with moisture; some have a small head and large stalk. They gradually grow and prolapse, becoming hard and painless. Some may persist for years without healing, leading to ocular pathology. This is caused by pre-existing damp-heat in the Spleen Meridian combined with emotional stagnation and Qi constraint due to excessive thinking and depression. At the initial stage, washing with Qingliang Yuan (Cooling Paste) can eliminate it.
Qingliang Yuan Formula: Dangguiwei (Tail of Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chishao (Red Peony Root), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) (each 2 qian); Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (0.5 qian); Difuzi (Kochiae Fructus); Chuanlian (Coptidis Rhizoma); Sheng Xingren (Raw Prunus Armeniacae Semen) (each 1 qian); Danfan (Alumen) (0.2 qian).
Grind all ingredients into a coarse powder, wrap in red silk cloth into a ball the size of a cherry, soak in boiling water, and use the warm infusion to wash the affected area.
*Xinfa* states: Yanbao Tanhe (Eyelid Phlegm Nodule) occurs in the upper and lower eyelids, between the skin and muscle. Large nodules are like dates, small ones like beans; they are movable upon pushing, with normal skin color, hard and swollen but painless. It is caused by damp-phlegm and Qi stagnation. Externally, apply raw Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma) ground with vinegar into a thick paste, frequently applied to the eyelids. For recent onset, it resolves quickly; for long-standing cases, although immediate resolution is unlikely, frequent application will thin the skin slightly, causing minor erosion. Squeeze out a white powdery fluid with fingernails, and the nodule will resolve.
