Raw Dahuang (one jin) Baizhi (ten liang)
Grind into powder, make pills using water method. Take three to five qian per dose. At dawn (third watch), swallow with decoction of three green onions with roots fried in yellow wine. Cover with blankets to induce sweating. After two to three shichen (hours), when bowel movement occurs one or two times, it is effective. (This is a purgative and unblocking formula. The onion and wine assist in inducing sweating, hence "double resolution". For weak patients, follow with Sizijunzi Tang to tonify. For elderly or deficient patients, take only one qian per dose, delivered with Renshen and Shengjiang decoction. Repeat after one hour. Sleep and upper body sweating are sufficient.)
For initial back carbuncle or neck carbuncle (Duikou):
Huangqi, Danggui (five qian each) Chuanxiong (one qian) Jinyinhua (one liang) Yuanzhi Rou (five qian) Jiegeng, Gancao (three qian each)
Decoct in water and take.

On an auspicious day designated by Tianyi, grind all medicines into extremely fine powder. Make pills using flour paste, each pill weighing four fen. Coat with three qian five fen of Zhusha. Store in yellow wax shells. To use, decoct three cun of scallion heads and three slices of ginger in a small cup of yellow wine. Dissolve the pill in this liquid and take. Drink enough to become slightly intoxicated, cover with blankets to sweat. Severe cases may require two to three doses.
