Use 13 jin of genuine small-grind sesame oil. Soak the above herbs in the oil for seven days. Place in a copper pot and boil until the herbs are scorched. Filter out the dregs. Return the oil to the pot and boil until it forms beads when dropped in water. Remove the settled residue, then add Dan (lead monoxide). For every 1 jin of oil, use 8 liang of refined Dan as the standard. Once the plaster is ready, pour it into an enameled jar. Stir with a locust wood stick while cooling. Then add the following powders:
Xue Jie (4 qian), Ru Xiang (de-oiled), Mo Yao (de-oiled, each 3.3 qian), Huo Xiang (4.5 qian).
Grind finely and mix well. Then add the following ingredients:
Zhen Zhu, Bing Pian (each 1 qian), Chen Xiang (not exposed to fire, 4.7 qian), Dang Men Zi (Musk, 2.1 qian), Mu Xiang (not exposed to fire), Song Xiang (each 5.4 qian), Tan Xiang (not exposed to fire, 6 qian), Xiong Huang (5.5 qian).
Mix well, then add 3 qian of Chao Nao (Camphor) to complete. This plaster is specifically used for treating carbuncles, sores, and back infections, as well as all external wound conditions. It is also applied for Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries, bone and joint pain, traumatic injuries, women's masses (Zheng Jia), and leukorrhea, with miraculous effects.
Shenying Wanyan Gao
Apply to all unknown swellings and toxic sores, severe ulcers, whether ulcerated or not. Only two or three applications are needed for recovery. After each application, wash off pus and blood with cold water; the plaster can be reused. Use one sheet according to the severity of the toxicity; all have miraculous effects.
Tao Zhi, Liu Zhi, Xing Zhi, Sang Zhi, Huai Zhi (cut into ~1 cun lengths, each 2 liang).
Use 24 liang of genuine sesame oil. Boil over a small charcoal fire. Add branches sequentially and boil until they turn to charcoal. Filter out dregs. Add: Human hair (male and female mixed), washed to remove grease, 1.5 liang. Fry in oil until melted. Add: Chuan Shan Jia (cut up), 1.5 liang. Fry until scorched. Add: Xiang Pi (cut up), 5 qian. Fry until melted. Add: Da Zhi Zi (100 pieces), crushed individually. Remove from heat and soak for the time it takes to burn one incense stick. Then simmer on low heat for another incense stick duration, then fry on high heat until charred. Remove and cool. Filter through summer cloth. Pour into a clean pot. For every 2 liang of oil, add 1 liang of fried Dan. Boil until it forms beads that do not scatter when dropped in water. Remove from heat for a moment. Add: High-quality transparent bright Cinnabar (Zhen Sha), Xue Jie, Er Cha (each 2 qian). Grind fine and mix into the plaster. Place in cold water. When slightly cool, take out and knead/pull 100 times with wet hands to ensure uniform mixing. Bury in soil for five days to remove "fire toxin". To use, soak in well water for half a day, shape into a paste, place on cloth, soften with hot water, and apply.
Taiyi Gao (from "Orthodox Standard")
Miraculously effective for all carbuncles, sores, and ulcers, promoting pus discharge and tissue regeneration.
Sheng Di, Tu Mu Bie, Yuan Shen, Chi Shao, Da Huang, Bai Zhi, Dang Gui (each 5 qian), Ru Xiang, Mo Yao (each 2 qian), A Wei (1 qian), Qing Fen (1.5 qian), Xue Yu (one clump), Rou Gui (2.5 qian), Huang Dan (water-refined, 6.5 liang).
Soak the herbal medicines in 1 jin of sesame oil: 5 days in spring, 3 days in summer, 7 days in autumn, 10 days in winter. Pour into a pot and boil with mild and strong heat until herbs are scorched and float. Stop fire briefly. Filter dregs with a cloth bag. Clean the pot, return oil, add Xue Yu and boil again. Check with a willow twig; when Xue Yu is scorched and floats, it is cooked. For every 1 jin of clean oil, slowly add 6.5 liang of fried Dan, stirring constantly. Wait for green smoke first, then white smoke rising in layers. The plaster is formed. Test by dropping into water; if softness and hardness are appropriate, remove from pot. Dissolve A Wei powder on the surface of the plaster. Next, add powders of Ru Xiang, Mo Yao, and Qing Fen, mix well, pour into water, and stir with a willow rod into a block. Apply as desired. For lung abscess or intestinal abscess, form pills with this plaster and take orally; also effective.
