Changmei Fa (Method for Growing Eyebrows, by Tianzi Qi): For those with fallen eyebrows, use seven mulberry leaves to wash the area daily. Within one month, the eyebrows will regrow as before; the same applies to beard loss.
The *Guiyi Fang* states: When lesions appear on both sides of the brow ridge, it is named "Famei" (Eyebrow Carbuncle). Regardless of whether it occurs at the inner or outer end of the eyebrow, one must guard against the attack of toxic vapors to unaffected areas. If located at the inner brow, the toxicity attacks the eyes and damages vision; if at the outer brow, it attacks the Taiyang region. Careful attention and caution are required in all cases. This type of ju (carbuncle/abscess) starts from the eyebrow and spreads to the head, presenting with black sores that gradually swell and spread, covering the face with numerous sore heads. The texture is hard as stone. Puncturing yields no pus, only yellow fluid. It is characterized by unbearable pain, aversion to the lesion, mental restlessness, and vomiting with counterflow qi. This results from accumulated heat in the zang-fu organs and upward attack of wind-toxicity. (From *Zhunsheng*)
Shen Douyuan stated: Meiju (Eyebrow Abscess) arises in the area of the Yangbai acupoint, which belongs to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, a meridian characterized by abundant qi and scarce blood. If symptoms gradually subside with treatment, the patient survives; if severe, death ensues—within seven days for women and twenty-four days for men. (From *Qixuan*)
He also stated: Meifengdu (Eyebrow Wind-Toxicity) is a syndrome affecting the Lung Meridian, manifesting as alternating chills and fever, soreness and pain in bones and sinews, or vomiting. This constitutes Meifengdu.
Dou Hanqing stated: When a du (malignant abscess) spreads from the eyebrow to the hairline, presenting with black coloration, gradual swelling of the neck/waist area, and floating qi across the full face, the prognosis is fatal.
The *Xinfa* states: Fengmeidui (Phoenix Eyebrow Toxicity), also known as Meifa, arises on the brow ridge. Regardless of side, it is caused by accumulated heat in the Bladder, Small Intestine, Liver, and Gallbladder meridians. It appears elongated like a claw, causes pain radiating to the brain, and results in simultaneous swelling of both eyes. It is hard, red, and has a deep root upon palpation. If punctured within six days and pus is obtained, the outcome is auspicious; if no pus forms, the condition is perilous. If it fails to ulcerate even after fourteen days, accompanied by irritability, vomiting, and anorexia, the prognosis is ominous.
Li Dongyuan stated: Meiju arises between the two eyebrows, appearing bright and radiant like human eyes, which is extremely fearsome. Infants suffering from this condition will certainly die; adults have a survival rate of five or six out of ten. This condition is governed by the Hand and Foot Shaoyang meridians. One should employ the Seahorse Detoxification Method to save the patient. Otherwise, pus and blood may infiltrate the eyes, causing blindness first.
I, Cheng, state: The manifestation of Famei is extremely dangerous, resembling Dingchuang (hard carbuncle). The primary step is to secure the root of the sore, preventing the base from spreading diffusely. Internally, one must support the expulsion of toxicity to form pus. Avoid administering cold-natured, qi-breaking, or spleen-damaging herbs. Only then can life be preserved.
