Chen Ai Yuan (Cinnamon Mugwort Round): This method is used because the toxin of sores and ulcers is purely Yin in nature, presenting as flat, stubborn, and numb lesions, which cannot be cured without moxibustion. Every year on the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu), collect one or two jin (approx. 0.5-1 kg) of Qimoxa (Qizhen Ai, *Artemisia argyi* from Qi County). The older it is stored, the better. When using, take the leaves to form moxa cones, or add powder of Moschus (She Xiang, Musk), Aucklandia (Mu Xiang, Radix Aucklandiae), and Realgar (Xiong Huang, Realgar), roll them into round shapes, place them on slices of garlic, and apply moxibustion. It is used for treating all kinds of nameless severe toxins. Split a walnut, remove the kernel, keep the shell, fill it completely with very dry human feces, cover it over the swollen area, and apply moxibustion until the shell burns through. If the abscess has already formed, thick yellow pus will flow out; if not yet formed, it will dissipate.
Moxibustion-induced sore care: In spring, use willow catkins; in summer, use bamboo membrane (the inner layer of bamboo); in winter, use dust from wall lizard nests (or similar material); in autumn, use new cotton to patch and protect the area.
Preparation of Moxa (by Hu Gongbi): Must harvest genuine Qimoxa during the Dog Days (Sanfu). Quantity does not matter. Pick clean, rub it in a sieve, then rub it again through a fine sieve. Only the material that passes through the sieve holes constitutes qualified moxa wool. Alternatively, wrap in coarse cloth and rub. Then dry it thoroughly under the scorching sun before storing. Moxa prepared this way produces the best therapeutic sores.
Riding Bamboo Horse Moxibustion (from *Yixue Zhunsheng Liuyao*): Treats all types of sores and ulcers, with no exception in cure. Have the patient rest their elbow on a table, extending the arm and wrist straight. Take a strip of bamboo splint, starting from the transverse crease at the wrist, measuring along the skin to the tip of the middle finger. Measure the left hand for males and the right hand for females. Do not include the fingernail length. Cut this strip as a standard measure. Then take a bamboo pole. Have the patient undress, sit upright astride the pole, supported by two people lifting it from front and back so the feet do not touch the ground. Two other people should support the patient to prevent stooping. Take the previously measured bamboo splint, start from the end of the coccyx corresponding to the sitting position on the pole, and measure straight up along the spine to the length of the splint. Mark this point with an ink pen. This is merely to find the center, not a specific acupoint. Make a smaller measuring tool ("Zezi") from a thin bamboo strip, measuring the distance of two transverse creases across the middle joint of the patient's middle finger. For males, use the left side; for females, the right side. Cut this as one unit of measurement. On both sides of the previously marked point, measure one unit each way. The endpoints are the moxibustion points. Apply five to seven moxa cones (Zhuang) to each point. If the carbuncle is on the left, moxa the right; if on the right, moxa the left. For severe cases, moxa both sides. These two points lie on the pathway of the Heart Meridian. All carbuncles and sores are toxins caused by stagnation of Heart Fire. Moxibustion here promotes the flow of Heart Fire and disperses the toxin. It has the power to revive the dying and has proven effective repeatedly.
Fermented Soybean Cake (from *Lili*): This method is specifically for moxa-treating all types of carbuncles, "duikou" (carbuncles on the back/neck), stubborn malignant sores, hard swelling that does not suppurate, and open sores that do not heal. Grind Jiangxi fermented soybeans (Dou Chi, *Fermented Glycine max*) into powder, mix with saliva to form cakes the size of copper coins, about three cash coins thick. Place the cake over the affected area, pile moxa on top of the cake, and apply moxibustion until the patient feels comfortable and relieved. If not yet suppurated, it will resolve; if suppurated, although it may not fully resolve, the toxicity is immediately reduced, showing great miraculous efficacy.
Peach Shell Moxibustion (from *Bi Yi Cheng Ji*): Split a large walnut, remove the meat, drill a hole in the back of the shell, fill it completely with fresh chicken droppings. Place the side with the droppings against the top of the toxic swelling. Apply moxibustion through the hole. Regardless of the number of cones, stop when the patient feels comfortable. Replace the shell when it becomes hot. Following this method, the toxin improves immediately. Truly a miraculous prescription.
Wax Moxibustion (from *Mifang Jiyuan*): For any case of "fabei" (back carbuncle), "duikou", nameless swelling and toxicity, or old/new sores. First, observe the swollen area. Mix raw flour with water to make a paste, forming a ring around the swelling according to its size. The ring should be slightly more than one cun high, adhering tightly to the skin, preventing leakage outside the ring. Cover with several layers of cloth to prevent fire from damaging surrounding healthy tissue. The patient must remain still. Inside the ring, spread high-quality yellow wax flakes. Apply charcoal fire to moxa until the wax melts. For shallow toxins, stop when the patient feels heat pain they cannot bear. For deep toxins, where no heat pain is felt, continue adding wax as it melts until the ring is full, then apply strong fire until the wax boils. Initially, there is itching, followed by pain. Endure this for a long time, then remove the fire. Pour a little water onto the boiling wax to cool it down. Once cooled, remove the wax. The wax near the skin will turn dark green/black, indicating the toxin has been drawn out with the wax. Shallow toxins resolve after one or two sessions; deep toxins resolve after three or four sessions, with pus and swelling disappearing quickly. After moxibustion, apply external Shengji Yuhong Gao (Regenerate Flesh Jade Red Ointment). This is a hundred-percent effective method.
Moxibustion for various toxins on the body: Use one bulb of garlic (specifically single-clove garlic, Dusu), add an appropriate amount of Realgar (Xiong Huang), pound them together into a paste, apply it to the affected area, place moxa on the paste, and apply one moxa cone (Zhuang) for immediate cure.
