Thin-skin sores are also known as Guang sores (Guang Chuang, widespread sores), referring to sores that leave only a thin layer of skin after breaking. These are caused by the stagnation of wind-heat in the skin and hair follicles.
Verified Prescription:
Sophora flavescens root (Ku Shen), Lead monoxide (Mi Tuo Seng), Concha Tridacninae (Ge Fen), and Catechu (Er Cha) in equal parts, ground into fine powder. First, clean the sore thoroughly, wipe off the white dead skin, dry the sore surface, and rub with a paste made from aged beeswax and lard. If there is pus or exudate, simply sprinkle the dry powder directly onto the area.
Fei Chuang (Greasy Scabs / Favus)
Chen Shigong stated: Cases of Fei Chuang caused by fetal toxins are few; most are caused by rubbing one's head with oily hands after eating, or due to unclean pillows. (From *Waike Zhengzong* [Orthodox Manual of External Medicine])
Shen Douyuan stated: For this type of sore, it is suitable to wash with decoction prepared from locust tree branches, then apply a mixture of smoke gum (Yan Jiao), calcined alum (Ku Fan), and calomel (Qing Fen) ground into fine powder, blended with cooked oil. (From *Qixuan Wei* [Mysteries Revealed by Qixuan])
Feng Luzhan stated: This sore arises from the upward rush of disharmonious qi within the zang-fu organs and the downward pouring of blood-heat toxicity. Children have insufficient yin qi and excess yang qi, making them most susceptible. It is advisable to internally administer herbs such as Forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao), Trichosanthes root (Tian Hua Fen), Schizonepeta spike (Jing Jie), Saposhnikovia root (Fang Feng), Fritillaria bulb (Bei Mu), Scrophularia root (Xuan Shen), Red peony root (Chi Shao Yao), Rehmannia root (Sheng Di Huang), and Arctium fruit (Niu Bang Zi) to clear heat, detoxify, cool the blood, and harmonize the blood. Only after the toxic factors have slightly subsided should external medications be applied. One must absolutely avoid suddenly applying cold-natured topical agents to suppress the condition, which could drive the heat-toxin inward leading to untreatable internal collapse, because children's zang-fu organs are delicate, and pathogens enter easily but exit with difficulty. (From *Jinnang* [Brocade Pouch], likely referring to *Yike Xinfa Yaojue*)
For Fei Chuang:
Picrorhiza rhizome (Hu Huang Lian), Calomel (Qing Fen), Realgar (Xiong Huang) (each 3 fen), Chalcanthite (Dan Fan) (2 fen), Calcined Alum (Ku Fan) (1 qian), Pig trotter shoes (Zhu Ti Xie) (three pieces, preserved character). Grind into fine powder, clean the sore, and apply.
Another prescription: Soap nuts (Fang Zi) (preserved character, ground to powder), mixed with pig bile for application.
Another prescription: Rosin (Song Xiang), Blood Dan (Xue Dan) (equal parts). Grind into fine powder, extract juice from pork back fat (Zhu Ban You), roll green cloth into strips and burn to collect the oil, then apply.
Another prescription: Dong Dan (8 fen), Calcined Alum (Ku Fan) (1 qian), True Lead Powder (Zhen Qian Fen), Rosin (Song Xiang) (each 2 qian, placed inside scallion tubes, steamed over rice until melted, cooled, and scallions removed). Grind all into fine powder. Mix with hot sesame oil for application; lard is also acceptable.
Another prescription: Chrysanthemum flowers (Huang Hua) (burned to ash), Calomel (Qing Fen) (a small amount). Grind evenly and apply dry.

Decoct together with water and wine.
Another prescription (Transmitted by Hongxi Dongfang): Big Maple Seed (Da Feng Rou) (5 qian), White Arsenic (Bai Xin) (3 fen), Oily Walnut (You Tao He) (five pieces). Pound together into three pills. At night, take one pill and rub it on the chest until the second watch of the night; the medicine will scatter and then gather again on the chest. Lie on your back. Repeat the next night. Skip one night, then rub another pill. After seven days, complete recovery.
For Fei Chuang on the Head and Face (Empirical Prescription):
Calomel (Qing Fen), Flying Blood Dan (Fei Xue Dan), White Alum (Bai Fan), Realgar (Xiong Huang) (equal parts). Grind finely. Place inside scallion tubes, seal both ends, and roast. Add a small amount of tortoise shell ash, grind, and mix with vegetable oil for application; effect is immediate.

Separately, take 1 liang of Sesame Oil (Ma You), add one centipede (remove head and tail), fry in oil until charred, remove dregs, let cool, and mix with the previous powder for use. First, boil pig bristle-scraping water, wash the sores thoroughly, remove crusts, or after shaving the head, place several eggs mixed with 5 fen of Sichuan peppercorn on the head covered by an oil-paper pancake, then cover with a felt hat. Leave overnight. The next day, apply the Centipede Oil mixed with Rosin powder.
