To treat post-miasma malaria where excessive sweating has led to the depletion of internal body fluids (Jinye) and constipation. One should not recklessly use purgative medicines; this method is appropriate.
Honey (4 liang)
Place the honey in a yao (a type of decoction vessel) and simmer over low heat while stirring, ensuring it does not burn. Once it cools slightly and attains a syrup-like consistency, moisten hands with water and shape the honey into suppositories, approximately the size of a thumb, about 2-3 cun in length, with one end tapered.
While still slightly warm, insert the suppository into the anal canal (Gudao) and hold the buttocks together with hands. If there is no effect, administer another one. Briefly warm it over fire to make it lukewarm. Yan's Formula states: add 3 he of Honey (Fengmi) and 2 spoons of Pig Bile (Zhudan) to the honey and simmer together; if bile is unavailable, the previous method alone is also acceptable. Another formula suggests adding 5 qian of Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit (Zaojiao) to the mixture. These can be selected according to the depth of the disease.
