The condition of "Contour Inversion" is not minor; many suffer from it, yet few doctors can treat it. Although there are secret family acupuncture classics, if the practitioner's mind is not agile and hands are not skillful, the patient may remain blind until old age.
This condition arises from the excess of the Six Qi (Wind, Cold, Summer-heat, Dampness, Dryness, Fire), where Wind and Heat battle each other, causing the eyeball to tilt and invert, with the Sclera (White part) facing outward and the Cornea/Iris (Black part) facing inward. Medication cannot cure it; only manual techniques can treat it. How is this technique performed? One must carefully observe the direction of entry and exit, as well as the distinctions between the upper and lower meridians, then proceed with acupuncture. This becomes as easy as turning over one's palm. After stabilizing the needle, administer Zhengrong Tang (Straightening Decoction), sleep with a high pillow. Then decoct and take Renshen Yangrong Tang (Ginseng Nourishing the Perfection Decoction) for two or three doses, and recovery will be immediate. The needling techniques must be newly taught during clinical practice; written words cannot replace oral instruction. City physicians are ignorant of this, referring to Qingmang Internal Obstruction (Green Cataract) as Tongshen Fanbei (Pupil Reversal). Alas! Is this truly Tongshen Fanbei?
When the Metal Wheel (Sclera) is naturally level, the Water Wheel (Cornea/Pupil) shines bright. When the Wind Wheel (Cornea) tilts halfway, the Fire Wheel (Iris) steams under heat. Though Liver Pathogens attack, the Kidney essence remains peaceful. Do not allow the tip to grow abnormally, damaging the True Essence.
At the onset, the eye appears unnatural, with no other visible abnormalities inside or out. Within one or two days, the contours of the Wind Wheel (Cornea) bulge obliquely on the left, right, upper, or lower side, hence the name "Spring Water Raising Waves." This is due to Kidney Pathogens steaming upward and Gallbladder Fire pressing internally. Fortunately, Xun Wind (Wind Qi) has not moved violently, so the condition has not fully erupted. If Wood excess generates Fire, swelling often occurs from above, accompanied by twisted vessels. Once Fire excess generates Wind, redness, pain, and tearing will inevitably occur, with head pain feeling like bursting. Urgently use Xiling Xiaoyao San (Rhinoceros Horn and Antelope Horn Soothing Liver Powder), Guishao Dihuang Wan (Angelica and Peony Rehmannia Pill), or temporarily add Zimu and Huangbai, administering them day and night alternately. If delayed even slightly, the swelling will gradually rise and sharpen. At the extreme, the Water Wheel becomes invisible, the Shen Gao (Vitreous Humor) dies, commonly known as "Field Spiral Top." Even skilled practitioners would find it hopeless.
The sorrowful pupil stares fixedly without turning; Yang Pathogens are hyperactive, and Wind-Heat joins in.
This condition presents with neck stiffness, ruddy and dry complexion, eyes hot like fire, swelling within the eyelids preventing opening and closing. It resembles fierce deities in wild temples or the eyes of fish transformed in flower vases—protruding and fixedly stagnant—hence named "Fish Eyes Not Sleeping at Night." This results from Yang Pathogens being hyperactive and harmful, Wind-Heat obstructing, lower orifices blocked, and upper orifices also sealed. The eye either protrudes or retracts rapidly. Quickly perform bloodletting via Bian stones (stone needles) at critical acupoints: Baihui (GV20), Taiyang (EX-HN5), both eyelids, and Shangxing (GV23). Subsequently, use Huanglian Jiedu Tang (Coptis Detoxification Decoction) to clear heat toxins, and Yiwu Dahuang Wan (Single Rhubarb Pill) or Sanyou Wan (Three Friends Pill) to purge with cold properties. There may still be hope for rescue, but the situation remains perilous.
