Euryale Seed (7 qian, select clean hard-skin seeds, rinse and soak in boiling water 4-5 times, then soak thoroughly in very hot water for use) Goji Berry (3 qian, select plump and red ones, rinse with water only once, soak thoroughly in boiling water for use) Japonica Rice (late-maturing variety, half a large teacup volume, rinse with boiling water 4-5 times for use).
Process the three ingredients as described today. Tomorrow at Wugeng (3-5 AM), use a clay pot. First boil water, add Euryale Seed and boil for 4-5 boils; then add Goji Berry and boil for 3-4 boils; finally add Japonica Rice, and cook together until thick, soft, rotten, sweet, and fragrant. Eat on an empty stomach to nourish Stomach Qi (Stomach Energy). After 40 days, skin becomes moist and lustrous; after 100 days, walking becomes strong and healthy; after one year, bones and sinews become solid. Long-term consumption leads to sharp hearing and clear vision, prolongs life, and gradually restores youthfulness to the eyes, allowing reading of fine print at night even at 80 or 90 years old. Add plenty of water when cooking porridge; do not add cold water. Alternatively, grind these ingredients into fine powder and take with boiling water.
The Liver is the root of Childlike Spirit (vitality and spiritual vigor); the Kidney is the source of Essence and Luster. Tonifying the Liver is equivalent to tonifying the Kidney, because the clear apertures of the Kidney open into the Liver.
Pig Liver (one whole liver, remove the bitter gallbladder, retain the blood, do not wash with water, scrape clean white fascia with a bamboo knife, cut into willow-leaf thin slices for use) Spiculate Flower Spike (2 liang, break by hand, avoid iron, rinse dirt away with Yellow Wine, soak thoroughly in Yellow Wine for use) Goji Berry (7 qian, soak thoroughly in Yellow Wine for use) Chrysanthemum Flower (1 liang, remove stems, pedicels, and leaves, clean dust, soak thoroughly in Yellow Wine for use) Scrophularia Root (5 qian, avoid ironware, soak thoroughly in Yellow Wine for use) True Autumn Stone (2 qian, grind into fine powder for use).
Except for Autumn Stone, mix the above five herbs evenly and divide into five portions; also divide the pig liver into five portions. Use a black-thin-skinned porcelain jar. Place a layer of herbs at the bottom, then a layer of liver on top of the herbs, sprinkle Autumn Stone on the liver, then another layer of herbs and liver, still adding Autumn Stone powder on the liver. Repeat this for 3-4 layers. Cover the top layer of liver with herbs, add one bowl of wine to soak the liver. Seal the jar mouth with a piece of clean wet cloth containing 5-6 layers of paper inside, tie tightly with hemp thread. Place in a pot and steam over water for one day. If water in the pot evaporates, add hot water occasionally; ensure water does not enter the jar. When the aroma of the liver permeates out, open and remove. Stop heating when there is no tender red blood color inside the liver. Wait for the fire heat to dissipate, then remove. Eat immediately, about ten-plus slices, chew finely and swallow slowly. After cooling, remove the liver, discard the herbs, and store the herbs. Cook another liver, keeping it in a porcelain bowl. Eat 5-7 times a day, each time taking more than ten warm slices, but not too much. For those over sixty years old, add one bowl of Human Milk, one teacup of Ginseng Decoction, two teacups of Wine, and two cups of Angelica Decoction. This is suitable for use in November, December, January, and February.
