Use Alumen (Lumeng, 矾石) [2 liang] alone. Decoct it in Jiangshui (fermented grain water, 浆水) [1 dou 5 sheng] until it boils for three to five times. Soak the feet in this decoction; it is highly effective for treating Hongjiaojiao (Hong Kong foot/foot edema with damp-heat toxicity, 香港脚) attacking the heart (pathogenic factors ascending to the chest and heart).
Use Alumen (Lumeng, 矾石), Nuxstibium (Xiaoshi, 硝石), Talcum (Huashi, 滑石), and Sulfur (Liuhuang, 硫黄) [each 1 liang]. Mix with Wugenshui (water not touching the ground, such as rain or dew, 无根水) to form pills. This treats all types of summerheat toxicity and latent summerheat causing abdominal distension and pain, with excellent efficacy.
Use Alumen (Lumeng, 矾石), Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄), and Talcum (Huashi, 滑石) [each half liang]; Nuxstibium (Xiaoshi, 硝石) and Overseas Sulfur (Boshang Liuhuang, 舶上硫黄) [each 1 liang]; and Wheat Flour (Baifan, 白面) [4 liang]. Grind the above five herbs into powder, mix evenly with flour, and use water drops to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds (Wutongzi, 梧桐子). Take 30 pills per dose with fresh well water. According to Guan Jianyun, if a patient suffers from heatstroke leading to syncope, administering this remedy can restore consciousness immediately. It treats heatstroke symptoms including fever, headache resembling spleen-cold, vomiting, dizziness, fullness, and loss of appetite.
Calcine Alumen (Lumeng, 矾石) and grind into fine powder; wash Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia, 半夏) with decoction and grind into fine powder; take each [10 liang]. Calcine Halloysitum Rubrum (Hanshuishi, 寒水石) until red-hot to remove fire toxicity, then process by water flotation (Shuifei, 水飞); take [20 liang]. Grind and mix uniformly, form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 30 pills per dose after meals, delivered with Ginger Decoction (Jiangsheng Tang, 生姜汤). It treats wind obstruction (Fengyong, 风壅), resolves phlegm-fluids, benefits the throat and diaphragm, clears the eyes, stops coughing, and removes irritability and heat.
To treat cold damage (Shanghan, 伤寒) resulting in hot dysentery with a sensation of heaviness in defecation:
Pulsatilla Root (Baitouweng, 白头翁) [2 liang], Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连), Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai, 黄柏), and Privet Bark (Qinpi, 秦皮) [each 3 liang].
Decoct the above four herbs in 7 sheng of water until reduced to 2 sheng. Strain the dregs. Warm and take 1 sheng.
This is Baitouweng Tang (Pulsatilla Decoction, 白头翁汤) plus Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) and Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao, 阿胶) [each 3 liang]. It treats postpartum dysentery in patients who are extremely deficient.
