(This formula) is Erchen Tang (Two-Chen Decoction) with Gancao (Licorice Root) removed, and Maiya (Malt), Shenqu (Medicated Leaven) added, called Shu Tianma Shengjiang Jian (Atractylodes, Gastrodia, and Ginger Decoction).
Compound Formula:
(This formula) is Erchen Tang (Two-Chen Decoction) combined with Liangge San (Cooling the Chest Powder), used to clear and benefit the head and eyes, cool the chest, resolve phlegm, clear heat, and promote qi movement.
(This formula) is Erchen Tang (Two-Chen Decoction) combined with Pingwei San (Stomach-Pacifying Powder), with Fuling (Poria) removed and Huoxiang (Patchouli) added, for treating vomiting.
(This formula) is Erchen Tang (Two-Chen Decoction) combined with Pingwei San (Stomach-Pacifying Powder) and Sijunzi Tang (Four-Gentlemen Decoction), with Cangzhu (Atractylodes Rhizome) removed and Huoxiang (Patchouli) added, for treating headache, fever, aversion to wind, profuse sweating, vomiting, nausea, cough, excessive phlegm, and epigastric fullness caused by cold-pathogen diseases in all seasons.
Treats epigastric stuffiness (fullness below the heart) that feels soft upon pressure, with a floating pulse at the Guan position.
Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (2 liang; if made into pills: 3 liang in spring, 2 liang in summer and autumn, 5 liang in winter) Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) (1 liang; if made into pills: 4 liang in spring, 5 liang in summer, 3 liang in autumn, 2 liang in winter)
Huangqin (Scutellaria Root)
The above three herbs are soaked in 2 sheng of boiling water for a short while, then strained to remove the dregs. The liquid is divided into two doses and taken warm.
Haizang stated that Yifangyin's Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) lacks Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), which was omitted by later generations. When made into pills, it is called Jinhua Wan (Golden Flower Pill), also known as Sanhuang Wan (Three-Yellow Pill), treating spleen-heat-induced oral ulcers, foul breath, jaundice, hematemesis, and xiaoke (wasting-thirst syndrome).
(This formula) is Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) with Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) removed, plus Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark) (3 liang) and Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) (1 liang), for treating chronic dysentery. It is also named Sanhuang Xiexin Tang (Three-Yellow Draining-the-Heart Decoction), treating excess-heat in the heart and diaphragm, mania, restlessness, and flushed face. Made into pills, it is named Sanbu Wan (Three-Nourishing Pill), treating maiwei (pulse flaccidity).
(This formula) is the ancient Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) with Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark) removed and Gancao (Licorice Root) added, for treating epidemic大头瘟 (big-head plague).
(This formula) is the ancient Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) with Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit) added in equal proportions.
(This formula) is Huanglian Jiedu Tang (Coptis Decoction for Resolving Toxicity), processed into pills using water, each dose being 100 pills, taken with tea. It is named Da Jinhua Wan (Great Golden Flower Pill).
(This formula) is Jiedu Tang (Detoxification Decoction) with Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) removed and Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) added in equal proportions, for treating epidemic diseases persisting for five to six days without resolution, presenting with headache, high fever, vexing pain in the four limbs, and loss of appetite.
(This formula) is Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) without Huangqin (Scutellaria Root).
Lin Yi stated: Upon examination, the Dahuang Huanglian Xiexin Tang (Rhubarb and Coptis Draining-the-Heart Decoction) in various editions contains only two herbs. However, since the subsequent Fuzi Xiexin Tang (Aconite Draining-the-Heart Decoction) uses Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), it is likely that the former formula also contained (Huangqin).
(This formula) is the previous decoction with Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) added, treating epigastric stuffiness accompanied by aversion to cold and sweating. While Xiexin Tang (Draining-the-Heart Decoction) attacks the stuffiness, Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) is added to secure yang qi.
Xiexin Tang (Draining-the-Heart Decoction): Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) (1 liang), remove the whiskers, grind into an extremely fine powder. Each dose is 1 zi to half qian or 1 qian. Haizang stated that Yilao's single-herb Xiexin Tang (Draining-the-Heart Decoction) originates from this.
It addresses excess pathogenic factors.
Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill): Use Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) (4 liang) ground into powder, and Shengdihuang (Fresh Rehmannia Root) (0.5 jin) pressed for juice. Mix the juice including the dregs with the Huanglian powder, blend evenly, dry, grind into a fine powder, and process with honey into pills the size of tung tree seeds.
