若肝经乘我之困,来侵脾胃之土,所以加白芍以平肝木,此堕治之妙法也。

Li Tieguai the Immortal commented: If there is Qi deficiency with sinking, caused by internal injury to the righteous Qi due to irregular eating and overwork, leading to downward movement of Qi, and the Spleen and Stomach failing to transform and transport, causing food stagnation. Mildly it leads to abdominal distension... using this formula... Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang) used with Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen)... those who tonify will not reach... Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao)... or otherwise...
The Immortal Hua commented: Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang has never been praised as so effective and refreshing before. How fortunate to receive such high praise! What more can I say? However, for cases of Yang deficiency with sinking... stop... medicine three... Yin within...
He the Immortal commented: When a person suffers from abdominal pain that worsens upon pressure, or chest discomfort due to food retention, it is appropriate to use methods of digestion and guidance. Why? The prescription consists of: Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu) 2 qian, Aurantii Fructus (Zhike)... Merely using digestive agents would suffice; why add Baizhu and Baishao? It is because after food retention, if the food cannot be transformed and knots in the chest causing pain, merely digesting food without strengthening Stomach Qi results in weak Earth element, making it difficult to quickly transform food. Therefore, Baizhu is used to strengthen Stomach Qi, thereby generating the Yin-Earth within the Spleen. With abundant Qi, what difficulty is there in digesting food? If the Liver Meridian takes advantage of one's weakness to invade the Earth of the Spleen and Stomach, then Baishao is added to pacify Liver Wood. This is the subtle method of treating via digestion and guidance.
As for Qi carrying food remaining in the Large Intestine, where fire qi flares up internally, causing turmoil with the retained food, resulting in pain that cannot be touched, this indicates the food has left the Spleen and Stomach, and purgative methods may be applied... This great... but its... merit...
The Immortal Xu said: This is an inconceivable discussion. I further consult a symptom from *Shishi Mulu*: someone develops a mass (Pi Kuai), which suddenly attacks... prepare... know...
The Immortal Zhang said: I select a formula for when a person suffers from abdominal pain that cannot be touched. The prescription consists of: Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhishi) 1 qian, Rheum Palmatum Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang) 2 qian, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) 1 qian, Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao)...
The Immortal Hua commented: There are two other methods not yet transmitted. One is Yin-Yang Decoction. The method uses one bowl of boiling water and one bowl of cool water, mixed evenly, adding a pinch of fried salt, beaten over a hundred times... Another is the method for sneezing, not yet taught. Use Sanbanxia (Pinelliae Tuber) 3 qian ground into powder, made into pills the size of soybeans with water, inserted into the nose to induce continuous sneezing, then stopped immediately by drinking fluids.
