The acupoints of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian begin at Jiquan (HT1), Qingling (HT2), Shaohai (HT3), Lingdao (HT4), Tongli (HT5), Yinxi (HT6), Shenmen (HT7), Shaofu (HT8), and Xiaochong (HT9), ending at the edge of the little finger.
Jiquan (HT1) is located in the axilla, between the tendons on the medial side of the arm, over the pulsating artery; it can be moxibusted with seven moxa cones.
Qingling (HT2) is found by descending from Jiquan to the elbow, three cun above the ribs; take the point with the arm extended and raised; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Shaohai (HT3) (also known as Qujie) is located by descending from Qingling to the medial border of the elbow, lateral to the large bone behind the joint, five fen above the end of the elbow; flex the elbow towards the head to locate the head of the transverse cubital crease; moxibustion with three cones is applicable. Another view holds that moxibustion is contraindicated.
Lingdao (HT4) is located one cun and five fen distal to Shaohai, posterior to the palm; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Tongli (HT5) is located five fen distal to Lingdao, along the ulnar side of the wrist, in a depression one cun proximal to the wrist crease; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Yinxi (HT6) (also known as Hand-Shaoyin Xi) is located five fen medial to Tongli, on the pulse at the posterior aspect of the palm, five fen from the wrist, directly posterior to the little finger; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Shenmen (HT7) (also known as Duichong and Zhongdu) is located in the depression at the end of the sharp bone posterior to the palm, following Yinxi; moxibustion with three or seven cones is applicable, with cone size similar to a wheat grain.
Shaofu (HT8) is located in the depression in the interosseous space on the lateral side of the distal end of the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint, following Shenmen; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Xiaochong (HT9) is located at the medial tip of the little finger, approximately the width of a leek leaf away from the nail corner; moxibustion with one cone is applicable; another source states three cones.
The acupoints of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian: Shaoze comes first on the radial side of the little finger; Qian Gu, Hou Xi, Wangu, Yanggu, Yanglao are set; Zhizheng, Xiaohai ascend to Jianzhen; Naoshu, Tianzong, Bingfeng, Qu Yuan, Jianwaishu, Jianzhongshu, Tianchuang, and Tianrong follow in sequence. This meridian has nineteen acupoints, plus Quanliao, entering Tinggong.
Shaoze (SI1) is located at the radial corner of the little finger, one fen away from the nail angle, in a depression (also known as Xiaoshe); moxibustion with one cone is applicable.
Qian Gu (SI2) is located proximal to Shaoze, in the depression anterior to the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint on the radial side of the little finger; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Hou Xi (SI3) is located proximal to Qian Gu, in the depression at the apex of the transverse crease on the ulnar side posterior to the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint; take the point with the hand supinated and making a fist; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Wangu (SI4) is located proximal to Hou Xi, in the depression in the gap under the bone arising anterior to the wrist on the dorsal-ulnar side of the hand; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Yanggu (SI5) is located proximal to Wangu, in the depression under the sharp bone distal to the wrist on the dorsal-ulnar side of the hand; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Yanglao (SI6) is located proximal to Yanggu, in a hollow above the sharp bone of the hand, in a depression approximately one cun posterior to the wrist; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Zhizheng (SI7) is located four cun proximal to Yanglao on the lateral side; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Xiaohai (SI8) is located proximal to Zhizheng, in a depression five fen distal to the end of the elbow, lateral to the large bone of the elbow; flex the hand towards the head to locate the point; moxibustion with five or seven cones is applicable.
Jianzhen (SI9) is located proximal to Xiaohai, in the depression posterior to the shoulder end, between the two bones where the humerus meets the scapula below the glenoid cavity; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Naoshu (SI10) is located proximal to Jianzhen, in the depression below the superior border of the scapula and below the acromion, taking the point with the arm raised; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Tianzong (SI11) is located proximal to Naoshu, in the depression below the scapula; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Bingfeng (SI12) is located proximal to Tianzong, on the shoulder above the small bone, where there is an empty space when the arm is raised; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Qu Yuan (SI13) is located proximal to Bingfeng, in the curved depression in the center of the scapula, which is tender upon pressure; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Jianwaishu (SI14) is located proximal to Qu Yuan, in the depression at the superior border of the scapula, three cun lateral to the spine; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Jianzhongshu (SI15) is located proximal to Jianwaishu, in the depression at the medial border of the scapula, two cun lateral to the Dazhui (GV14) acupoint on the Governor Vessel; moxibustion with ten cones is applicable.
Tianchuang (SI16) (also known as Chuanglong) is located proximal to Jianzhongshu, in the depression anterior to the major tendon of the neck, below the mandible, where the arterial pulse is palpable; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Tianrong (SI17) is located proximal to Tianchuang, posterior to the curved part of the mandible below the ear; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
Quanliao (SI18) (also known as Duigu) is located proximal to Tianrong, in the depression at the sharp end of the lower border of the zygomatic bone; moxibustion is contraindicated.
Tinggong (SI19) is located proximal to Quanliao, in the ear, where the structure resembles a bead the size of a red bean; moxibustion with three cones is applicable.
