The method for treating habitual abortion (Hua Tai) aims solely at facilitating a smooth and rapid delivery. The difficulty or ease of delivery depends on the fullness or deficiency of blood and Qi, not on whether the medicines possess lubricating properties. When blood is abundant, it provides moisture, making childbirth easy; when blood is deficient, there is dryness, making childbirth difficult. Therefore, before delivery, one should only nourish and cultivate blood and Qi in advance. Formulas such as Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Huatai Jian (Abortion-Preventing Decoction), Wufu Yin (Five Blessings Drink), Xiaoying Jian (Small Camp Decoction), and Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) are all essential formulas for ensuring safe delivery. If this principle is ignored and lubricating medicines are overused, or if cooling-fire and moving-Qi preparations are recklessly administered when the delivery date is not near and there is no fire stagnation, it often leads to blood deficiency and Qi sinking, which becomes a major hazard during labor. However, for individuals who are indeed obese with robust Qi, Zisu Yin (Perilla Leaf Drink) and Baosheng Wuyou San (Baosheng Wuyou Powder) can be selectively used.
