In women, there are cases where blood stasis accumulates and obstructs the vessels. Over a long period, this leads to Blood Deficiency (a condition characterized by insufficient blood volume or function), which may progress into Lao Zhai (consumptive disease, often referring to chronic wasting conditions like tuberculosis). Initially, menstruation may be irregular or accompanied by stabbing pain, leading to amenorrhea; alternatively, menstruation may have ceased earlier, urination remains clear and unobstructed, but pain occurs in the vessels during or after urination, resembling the pain of Lin Syndrome (dysuria with frequency and urgency). In such cases, the pulse does not present as deficient, large, soggy, or choppy, but rather as slippery and rapid. This pattern is common. If physicians misdiagnose and treat it solely with diuretic and fire-draining formulas, prolonged use will exhaust both Yin fluids and Yang Qi, hastening death. For this condition, if the patient has strong congenital constitution and has not been previously mistreated, Zhongjing's Dahuang Zhechong Wan (Major Rhubarb and Ground Beetle Pill) should be administered.

Form into honey pills and take with wine. Zhu Quansheng stated: It should be taken on an empty stomach before meals. Tang Rongchuan’s commentary on formulas states: This pill treats Gan Xue Lao (Dry Blood Consumptive Disease). If old blood is not expelled, new blood cannot be generated. People know that Gan Xue Lao involves extreme deficiency, but they do not realize that tonifying deficiency alone will only exacerbate the disease. One must remove the dry blood first, so that new blood can be generated, thereby hoping for recovery. Dry blood differs from ordinary blood stasis; ordinary stasis can be moved by Qi regulation, whereas dry blood is separated from Qi flow. Therefore, various insect medicines that bite blood are used to erode it.
For patients with weak congenital constitution or those who have been previously mistreated, after taking Dahuang Zhechong Wan, wait approximately one shichen (two hours), then administer the newly prepared Guilu Buxue Jiao (Tortoise-Deer Blood-Nourishing Gelatin).

For patients whose Yin fluids are not exhausted but who have severe Yang deficiency, manifesting primarily as fatigue, preference for lying down, and reluctance to speak, urgently support the Ming Men Fire (Gate of Vitality) and Heart Fire, tonify Spleen Qi, and wait until their spirit recovers slightly, then continue treatment according to the above methods.
