Women's emotions are often frustrated. Long-held resentment and anger, with no outlet for release, lead to an excess of Liver Wood Qi. The breasts belong to the Liver channel; thus, pathology manifests here. Initially, a small nodule like a bean appears, gradually enlarging over years. When it erupts, it causes severe pain, swelling, and ulceration, resembling a rocky cave, with dripping blood, pus, and red fluid. In severe cases, it penetrates the five zang organs, ultimately leading to untreatable conditions. When the lump is still the size of a small chess piece, one should first administer Shiliuwei Liuqi Yin (Sixteen-Ingredient Qi-Regulating Decoction) (see Surgery section), followed by the Main Formula. If ulceration has occurred, temporarily administer Jiedu Tuoli San (Detoxifying and Supporting Interior Powder), treating externally with herbs that remove necrotic tissue and promote muscle regeneration. Whether broken or unbroken, Lafa Wan (Beeswax and Alum Pill) should be taken concurrently.
Main Formula: Beimu [Fritillaria Bulb], Gualou Ren [Trichosanthes Seed], Qingpi [Green Tangerina Peel], Chaihu [Bupleurum Root], Chishao [Red Peony Root], Danggui [Angelica Sinensis Root], Fuxiong [Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome], Mutong [Akebia Caulis] (equal parts). Decoct in water and take orally. For severe pain, add Ruxiang [Frankincense] and Moyao [Myrrh].
This condition arises from sudden exposure to violent anger, resulting in Qi stagnation and Blood coagulation. Initially, one should endure the pain and use hot hands, or hands wrapped in cotton clothing heated by warmth, to knead firmly. Subsequently, employ methods such as Cong Yi [Scallion Moxibustion/Fomentation], Suan Jiu [Garlic Moxibustion], and Lin Xi [Washing/Soaking] (see Surgery section). Rapid resolution is essential. Women often delay treatment due to suffering, leading to major complications.
Main Formula: Gualou Ren [Trichosanthes Seed] (ground), Jinyinhua [Lonicerae Japonicae Flos], Beimu [Fritillaria Bulb] (each 2 qian), Tianhuafen [Trichosanthes Radix], Zaojiaoci [Gleditsiae Spina], Danggui Wei [Angelica Sinensis Tail], Chuanshanjia [Pangolin Scale] (ground), Baizhi Shao [Angelicae Dahuricae Radix Tip], Gancao Jie [Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Joint] (each 1 qian). Decoct in wine and take orally. Add Ruxiang [Frankincense] if severe.
Shenxiao Gualou San [Miraculously Effective Trichosanthes Powder]: Eliminates Ru Yong [Breast Abscess] before suppuration forms; converts existing suppuration into fluid for absorption. Also effective for Luoli [Scrofula] and various toxins (Formula see Chang Yong [Intestinal Abscess]).
Another Prescription: Gualou [Trichosanthes Fruit] (two fruits), crushed, stir-fried, and ground into powder; take with wine for efficacy. Alternatively, She Tui [Ophichthidae Skin] (1 qian, burnt to ash), Gancao Mo [Licorice Powder] (0.5 qian); take with wine. Can also be mixed with sesame oil for external application.
Cong Yi Method [Scallion Fomentation]: Crush scallions, stir-fry until hot, form into cakes, and apply to the affected area. Place a copper ladle over the cake and warm gently over a low fire until sweating occurs, causing swelling to subside.
External Application Formula: Gongyingying [Taraxaci Herba] (grows by roadsides in spring, yellow flowers like chrysanthemum, later forming downy balls, stems up to 3 cun), crushed and juiced, mixed with wine for drinking; residue applied externally.
Another: Mabiancao [Verbenae Herba], pounded in wine and juiced, add one piece of crushed fresh ginger, drink hot one to two bowls, apply residue to the affected area.
Another: Zongruo [Bamboo Leaf used for wrapping Zongzi] burned to ash on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, mixed with wine; two doses bring relief. Chui Ru [Milk Stasis] is also suitable for Cong Yi [Scallion Fomentation] and massage to disperse.
