The Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian begins at Zhongfu (LU-1), while the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian ends last at Qimen (LR-14). Generally, the Lung meridian originates in the chest; it emerges from the axilla and travels to Shaoshang (LU-11), connects with the index finger, and links with the Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. The Large Intestine Meridian starts at Shangyang (LI-1) and ends at Yingxiang (LI-18) outside the nose; the Stomach Meridian passes through Chengqi (ST-1) descending, seeking Lidi (ST-45) on the foot meridian. The Spleen Meridian starts at Yinbai (SP-1) on the foot, trending toward Dabao (SP-21) in the axilla; the Heart Meridian exits from Jiquan (HT-1) and pours into Shaochong (HT-9) on the little finger. The Small Intestine Meridian begins at Shaoze (SI-1) at the tip of the little finger, supports the posterior shoulder, and ascends to connect with Tinggong (SI-19). The Bladder Meridian's acupoints start from Jingming (BL-1), exiting at Zhiyin (BL-67) on the outer foot; the Kidney Meridian originates at Yongquan (KI-1) and communicates with Yufu (KI-27) in the anterior chest. The Pericardium Meridian starts at Tianchi (PC-1) behind the breast, connecting with Zhongchong (PC-9) on the middle finger of the hand; the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) Meridian begins on the lateral side of the ring finger, traveling from Guanchong (TE-1) to Sizhukong (TE-23). The Gallbladder Meridian starts from Tongziliao (GB-1), connecting to Xiaoyin (GB-44) on the fourth toe of the foot; the Liver Meridian ascends from Dadun (LR-1) and returns to the Taiyin Lung Meridian at Qimen (LR-14).
The meridians encompass the fourteen meridians of the body, comprising six regular meridians, their exterior-interior pairs, plus the Du (Governing Vessel) and Ren (Conception Vessel). There are six Yin and six Yang meridians in the hands and feet respectively; the Du Meridian governs all Yang meridians, and the Ren Meridian governs all Yin meridians. All Yang meridians run on the exterior/lateral aspects, while all Yin meridians run on the interior/medial aspects; this applies to the limbs, abdomen, and back alike. The Du Meridian runs along the spinal column, passing through Yinjiao (GV-28); the Ren Meridian is located in the midline of the umbilical and abdominal region. The Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian terminates at the little toe, entering from the heel into the perineum, running beside the sacrum. Ascending, it runs flanking the spine in four lines, with the anterior line connecting to Jingming (BL-1), being the longest meridian. The Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian starts at the anterior end of the fourth toe, with Yangguan (GB-33) at the lateral malleolus and Huantiao (GB-30) internally. It passes through the hypochondrium, crosses the shoulder, travels through Qu垣 (Quyuan, GB-23), and connects the areas before and after the ear to Hanyan (GB-2) and Wangu (GB-12). The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian starts at the big toe and second toe, with Zusanli (ST-36) and Tianshu (ST-25) traversing the breast area. The third row on the abdomen connects to the upper teeth, encircling the lips, flanking the nose, and reaching Yingxiang (LI-18) below the eyes and cheekbone. The three foot Yin meridians are internally connected: Jueyin is anterior, Shaoyin is central, and Taiyin is posterior. The Kidney Meridian emerges from the sole of the foot, ascending along the medial malleolus, flanking the Ren Meridian through the chest and abdomen up to Lianquan (CV-23). Both Taiyin and Jueyin Yin meridians originate from the big toe of the foot, but the medial and lateral sides are not directly connected. The Taiyin Meridian departs from Chongmen (SP-12) on the medial side, with the fourth row on the abdomen arranged sequentially. The Jueyin Meridian follows the genitalia near the pubic hair, slanting to connect with Qimen (LR-14) between the breast and ribs. Among the three hand Yang meridians, which is superior? The Yangming Meridian goes from the index finger towards Jianjing (GB-21). It drills into the cheek into the lower jaw, meeting beside Yingxiang (LI-18) outside the nose. The Sanjiao Meridian is on the ring finger, posterior to the Yangming, hugging the ear and converging at the eyebrow tip Sizhukong (TE-23). The Taiyang Meridian descends low from the little finger, spiraling around the shoulder posteriorly to meet at the ear and cheek. Additionally, the three hand Yin meridians run on the inner arm; the Taiyin Meridian corresponds with the big toe and anterior shoulder. The Jueyin Meridian connects from the middle finger to the axilla and chest, where Jiquan (HT-1) is the location of the Heart Meridian. All three hand and foot Yang meridians ascend to the head, while the three Yin meridians' acupoints wander stopping at the breast and chest. Only the Jueyin Meridian ascends from the posterior pharynx, reaches the vertex to meet the Du Meridian, and descends to flow into the Ren Meridian. Meridians have always been straight, while collaterals connect other meridians from their root. There are fourteen main meridians and sixteen collaterals; please remember them clearly. These sixteen collaterals consist of the fifteen regular collaterals plus the great collateral of the Stomach named Xuli (ST-15).
