The secret of the Heavenly Stars is known by few; this method specifically distinguishes between anterior and posterior application sequences. If there is retained food in the stomach, first locate Zusanli (ST36), then Xuanji (CV15). For spleen diseases involving qi and blood, first puncture Hegu (LI4), followed promptly by Sanyinjiao (SP6). If afflicted by evil influences, first puncture Jianshi (PC5); for arm spasm and pain, select Jianyu (LI15). If the feet suffer from spasms (charley-horse) accompanied by blurred vision, first puncture Chengshan (BL57), then the acupoints around the medial malleolus. For Hongjiaojiao (foot Qi disease) with soreness and pain, first locate Jianjing (GB21), then seek Zusanli (ST36) and Yanglingquan (GB34). If pain connects the umbilicus to the small intestine, first puncture Yinlingquan (SP9), then Yongquan (KI1). For tinnitus and lower back pain, first locate Wuhui (likely referring to Tinghui GB2 or general ear acupoints), then puncture Ermen (TE21), Zusanli (ST36), and Neiting (ST44). For Xiao Changqi (small intestine Qi pain), first puncture Changqiang (GV1), then Dazhuan (LR14), without panic. For foot weakness and difficulty walking, first locate Juegu (EX-LE5/Xuanshong), then Tiaokou (ST38) and Chongyang (ST42). For toothache, headache, and throat obstruction, first puncture Erjian (LI2), then Zusanli (ST36). For chest and diaphragm stuffiness and fullness, first puncture Yinjiao (CV13); puncturing Chengshan (BL57) improves appetite and digestion. For abdominal edema and distension, first puncture Shuifen (CV9) and drain Jianli (CV11). For cold damage (Shanghan) that has passed its transmission cycle without sweating, examine Qimen (LR14) first, then Zusanli (ST36). For cold malaria with facial swelling and intestinal murmurs, first take Hegu (LI4), then Neiting (ST44). Where to needle for cold-damp bi syndrome? First take Huantiao (GB30), then Yanglingquan (GB34). For finger pain and spasm, Shaoshang (LU11) is good; applying this method yields no failure. This is the true mantra of Changsang Jun; contemporary physicians must not treat it lightly.
For abdomen and belly, retain Zusanli; for waist and back, seek Weizhong. For head and neck, find Lieque; for face and mouth, Hegu receives [the treatment].
Zusanli and Neiting acupoints are the wonderful secret for abdomen and belly issues. Quchi and Hegu can thoroughly resolve headaches. Waist and back pain connected together: use Weizhong and Kunlun. If there is pain in the chest and neck, Houxi and Lieque are used together. Huantiao and Yanglingquan treat the front of the knee, axilla, and hypochondrium. When tonification is needed, retain the needle slowly; when draining is needed, disperse quickly. The three hundred and sixty acupoints do not depart from these eleven mantras.
Zusanli and Neiting, Quchi and Hegu thoroughly [treat]; Weizhong paired with Chengshan, Taichong and Kunlun. Huantiao and Yanglingquan, Tongli and Lieque. When combining for burdened usage, use the Dan method; when combining for swift usage, use the Jie method. The three hundred and sixty acupoints do not exceed these twelve mantras. Treating diseases possesses spiritual efficacy, like hot soup poured on snow. The Big Dipper descends the true mechanism; the Golden Lock teaches how to open it thoroughly. Only those who have reached the highest state can transmit this; those without talent should not speak rashly.
