13 Fushe (SP13) Meeting point of Foot-Taiyin, Yin Wei, and Jueyin meridians.
Acupoint meaning: Yin water fluids from the zang-fu organs exit the Spleen Meridian from this acupoint.
Name explanation:
1) Fushe. "Fu" refers to zang-fu organs. "She" means source. The name Fushe indicates that the qi and blood at this acupoint originate from the internal zang-fu organs. Because this acupoint has pores at the Earth level connecting to the internal Yin Wei Mai, water fluids from the Yin Wei Mai transmit outward to this acupoint. Since part of the qi and blood substance originates from the zang-fu organs, it is named Fushe.
2) Meeting point of Foot-Taiyin, Yin Wei, and Jueyin meridians. The qi and blood substance contains water fluids transmitted outward from the Yin Wei Mai and wind qi transmitted from Chongmen (SP12). The wind qi from Chongmen combines with the nature of the Jueyin Liver Meridian's qi and blood. Therefore, this acupoint is the meeting point of the Foot-Taiyin, Yin Wei, and Jueyin meridians. (*Nanjing*, Chapter 28 states: "The Yang Wei and Yin Wei meridians weave and connect throughout the body; their overflowing and stored qi and blood cannot circulate and irrigate all meridians." Based on this text, further analysis is provided. The Yin and Yang Wei meridians have a weaving and connecting function for the body's systemic qi and blood, characterized by overflow and storage without circulating irrigation. 'Overflow' refers to excess qi and blood flowing outward. 'Storage' refers to qi and blood being stored. 'Circulation' refers to substances moving cyclically through different human levels. 'Irrigation' refers to transmission to other parts. Based on this analysis, the qi and blood substances and characteristics of the Yin and Yang Wei meridians can be summarized as follows: Their substances are the excess qi and blood flowing outward from various meridians. The Yin Wei Mai's qi and blood are excess fluids, while the Yang Wei Mai's are excess gases. These fluids and gases are stored within the Yin and Yang Wei meridians. Internally within the Sanjiao, excess fluids from organs are constrained by the Sanjiao membrane and exist within the Sanjiao. Under gravity, these fluids accumulate in the lower abdomen. Once reaching the height of the internal-external abdominal passages, they overflow toward the body surface. This acupoint serves as such a passage connecting the Sanjiao to the body surface; thus, Sanjiao fluids flow to the body surface at this acupoint, making it the intersection of the Foot-Taiyin and Yin Wei meridians.)
Qi-blood characteristics: The substance is Earth-level meridian water.
Movement pattern: Fluids move from inside the abdomen to the abdominal surface.

The name Shidou indicates that Earth-level meridian water leaks from here into the Spleen Zang within the Sanjiao. The substance is Earth-level meridian water from Fuai (SP16), accompanied by much Spleen earth material. Since this acupoint has pores connecting to the Spleen, the earth material returns to the Spleen with the water; hence the name Shidou.
2) Mingguan. "Ming" means life. "Guan" means checkpoint. The name Mingguan indicates that the normal operation of qi and blood substance here is crucial for life. This acupoint connects internally to the Spleen via Earth-level pores, draining Spleen heat externally and lowering Spleen earth dampness. It is a vital channel for communication between the Spleen and body surface substances; hence the name Mingguan.
3) Shiguan. The name Shiguan indicates that this acupoint is a checkpoint for the exchange of Spleen earth substances between the Spleen Zang and the body surface. It is the entry/exit point for Spleen Meridian water entering the Spleen. Spleen earth is fixed and requires wind to move and water to carry. Without meridian water to carry the earth, the acupoint pores act as checkpoints blocking earth movement; hence the name Shiguan.
Qi-blood characteristics: The substance is a mixture of Spleen earth particles and meridian water.
Movement pattern: Flows from the body surface Spleen Meridian into the internal Spleen Zang.
Functions and actions: Returns body surface qi and blood of the Spleen Meridian to the Spleen Zang.

Name explanation: "Zhou" means widespread or surrounding. "Rong" means flourishing state of grass blooming or grain heading. The name ZhouRong indicates that Earth-level water-dampness of the Spleen Meridian evaporates in large quantities to become Heaven-level qi. Although belonging to the Spleen Meridian, no substance arrives here due to dissipation at Xiongxiang (SP19). The substance originates from Earth-level water liquid scattering from the upper region to here. Upon reaching this acupoint, heat from the Heart exterior causes massive evaporation of Earth-level water-dampness into Heaven-level qi. The vaporized qi resembles flowers blooming everywhere, restoring the Spleen earth to its original dry-hot nature; hence the name ZhouRong. Zhouying and Zhuanguan have similar meanings, referring to the vaporized qi covering the entire area around the acupoint.

During transport, it contracts into water-dampness cloud qi due to heat dissipation and transmits downward as cloud qi, showing the dexterous characteristic of Wind-Wood; hence the name Qingling. Qingling Quan shares the same meaning, with "Quan" indicating moisture-rich cloud qi moving at the Heaven level.
Qi-blood characteristics: The substance is damp-heat cloud qi at the Heaven level.
Movement pattern: Descends along the Heart Meridian to Shaohai (HT3).
Functions and actions: Transforms and transports Heart blood.
Treatment methods: For cold conditions, prick to bleed or reinforce and apply moxibustion; for heat conditions, reduce or use aquapuncture.
3 Shaohai (HT3) He-Sea Point, belongs to Water.
Alias: Qujie.
Acupoint meaning: Heart Meridian meridian water converges here.
Name explanation:
1) Shaohai. "Shao" means Yin or Water. "Hai" means great or place where rivers converge. The name Shaohai indicates that Earth-level meridian water of the Heart Meridian converges at this acupoint. The substance is formed by the convergence of cold-rain from the condensation of water-dampness cloud qi from Qingling (HT2) and descending blood from Jiquan (HT1). The converged Earth-level water is wide and deep like a sea; hence the name Shaohai.
