(Referring to the toes of the foot, the great toe is also known as the hallux.) [Medial aspect] belongs to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: The meridian of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen originates at the tip of the great toe. Diseases associated with it include immobility of the great toe. It further states: The sinews of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen originate at the medial side of the tip of the great toe; their pathology involves weakness in the great toe and pain in the medial malleolus. It also states: The Spleen meridian emerges from Yinbai (SP1). Yinbai is located at the medial side of the tip of the great toe and is a Wood Well-Source point). [Lateral aspect] belongs to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: The meridian of the Foot-Jueyin Liver originates at the tuft of hair on the great toe. It further states: The sinews of the Foot-Jueyin Liver involve pathology characterized by weakness in the great toe and pain anterior to the medial malleolus. It also states: The Liver meridian emerges from Dadun (LR1). Dadun is located at the tip of the great toe, amidst the three hairs, and is a Wood Well-Source point). It also belongs to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian and the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: A branch of the meridian of the Foot-Yangming Stomach diverges from the dorsum of the foot and enters the space between the great toe. It further states: A branch of the meridian of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder diverges from the dorsum of the foot, follows the interior of the interosseous bone of the great toe to its end, loops through the nail bed, and emerges at the tuft of hair). [Second toe] belongs to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian (The second toe is also referred to in the classics as the toe next to the great toe. The *Ling Shu* states: The Stomach meridian emerges from Lidui (ST45). Lidui is located at the tip of the second toe adjacent to the great toe and is a Metal Well-Source point). [Middle toe] belongs to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: The meridian of the Foot-Yangming Stomach runs along the lateral aspect of the tibia, descends to the dorsum of the foot, and enters the middle of the middle toe; a branch diverges three cun below the lower edge of the tibia and enters the lateral space of the middle toe. Diseases associated with it include pain in the lateral aspect and the dorsum of the foot, and immobility of the middle toe. It further states: The sinews of the Foot-Yangming Stomach originate from the middle three toes and knot at the dorsum of the foot; their pathology involves weakness in the middle toe and spasms/cramps in the shin). [Fourth toe] belongs to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian (The fourth toe is also referred to in the classics as the toe next to the little toe. The *Ling Shu* states: The meridian of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder runs along the dorsum of the foot and enters the space between the little toe and the fourth toe. Diseases associated with it include immobility of the fourth toe. It further states: The sinews of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder originate from the fourth toe, ascend and knot above the lateral malleolus; their pathology involves weakness and spasms/cramps in the fourth toe, radiating to the lateral knee. It also states: The Gallbladder meridian emerges from Xiaozhuyin (GB44). Xiaozhuyin is located at the tip of the fourth toe and is a Metal Well-Source point). [Little toe] belongs to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: The sinews of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney originate below the little toe, run parallel with the sinews of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen, turn posteriorly to pass below the medial malleolus, and knot at the heel). It also belongs to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: The meridian of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder runs from Jinggu (BL64) to the lateral side of the little toe. Diseases associated with it include immobility of the little toe. It further states: The sinews of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder originate from the little toe of the foot, ascend and knot at the ankle; their pathology involves weakness in the little toe and swelling/pain in the heel. It also states: The Bladder meridian emerges from Zhiyin (BL67). Zhiyin is located at the tip of the little toe and is a Metal Well-Source point).
