本篇此处无督脉任脉之说,止下文有督脉任脉之别盖指络穴言也。今附二图于此,则十四经始全。
The Du Mai (Governing Vessel) runs along the midline of the back, starting with seventeen acupoints beginning at Changqiang (GV1). Following are Yaoshu (GV2), Yangguan (GV3), entering between Mingmen (GV4) and Xianshu (GV5), ascending along the spinal ligament to reach Zhiyang (GV9). Lingtai (GV10), Shendao (GV11), Shenzhu (GV12), Taodao (GV13) connect with Dazhui (GV14); Yameng (GV15), Fengfu (GV16), Naohu (GV17), Qiangjian (GV18), Houding (GV19), Baihui (GV20), and Qianding (GV21) are arranged successively in the upper anterior region. Xinhui (GV22) is close to Shangxing (GV23); Shenting (GV24) reveals the subtlety of Suxiao (GV26); Shuigou (GV26) reaches Duanduan (CV15) without error; Yinjiao (GV28) resides within the lip to treat diseases.
Yinjiao (GV28) of the Du Mai is deep within the lip; Duanduan (CV15) is located precisely at the tip of the lip. Shuigou (GV26) is in the groove below the nose beneath Suxiao (GV26); Suxiao (GV26) should be carefully identified towards the nasal tip. The head shape is higher in the north and lower in the south; first measure the distance between the anterior and posterior hairlines, dividing it into one chi and two cun. Five fen above the hairline is Shenting (GV24); one cun above is Shangxing (GV23); two cun above is Xinhui (GV22); three and a half cun above is Qianding (GV21); five cun above is Baihui (GV20) at the center (located in the central whorl of hair on the vertex, where a bean can fit, intersection of lines connecting ear tips and the midline). Chen Bixi, a scholar of Neo-Confucianism, stated: slightly closer to the north, like the Pole Star of heaven, residing in the north. One and a half cun behind Baihui is Houding (GV19); three cun behind is Qiangjian (GV18); four and a half cun behind is Naohu (GV17); entering one cun from the posterior hairline is Fengfu (GV16) (one cun inside the posterior hairline, within the depression of the large tendon); five fen above the hairline is Yameng (GV15) (five fen above the posterior hairline, in the depression of the center of the neck, take with head extended, entering to connect with the root of the tongue); there are ten true acupoints from this point down to the cervical vertebrae. From the cervical vertebrae downwards along the spine, there are twenty-four vertebrae in total. Above Dazhui (GV14), there are cervical vertebrae, approximately three which are not counted; Changqiang (GV1) at the tailbone is also not counted; the middle twenty-one vertebrae can be arranged sequentially. The great bone of Dazhui (GV14) is the first; Taodao (GV13) is known within the second vertebral segment; Shenzhu (GV12) is in the third intervertebral space; Shendao (GV11) is in the fifth, no need to doubt; Lingtai (GV10) and Zhiyang (GV9) are in the sixth and seventh; Jinsuo (GV9) is thought of in the ninth; Jizhong (GV11) is in the eleventh; Xianshu (GV5) is singular in the twelfth; Mingmen (GV4) and Shenshu (BL23) coincide at the fourteenth; Yangguan (GV3) is naturally known at the sixteenth; the twenty-first vertebra is Yaoshu (GV2); Changqiang (GV1) follows at the end of the sacrococcygeal bone. (Total twenty-seven acupoints)
This section does not mention the Du Mai and Ren Mai here; only later text mentions the distinction between Du Mai and Ren Mai, likely referring to the Luo-connecting points. Now attaching two diagrams here, so that the Fourteen Meridians are complete.
