(Attached: Various Syndromes of the Mouth and Tongue)
For cases of sore throat and swelling, or sores arising in the throat, or obstruction, or redness, swelling, nodular hardness with distending pain, or throat closure preventing speech, these are all due to Wind-Heat, Phlegm, and Fire. Use Qingliang San (Cooling Powder) with modifications. In acute cases of throat closure (Hou Bi), urgently prick the Shaoshang (LU11) acupoint, located on the lateral side of the big toenail, using a three-edged needle to release toxic blood, and expel phlegm and saliva; this is essential.
Throat Closure (Hou Bi) (Two days prior, tightness in the chest and diaphragm, shortness of breath, sudden throat pain, cold extremities, Qi obstruction, life hanging by a thread for an instant)
Quickly use a chicken feather or goose quill dipped in tung oil to stir and probe the throat to induce vomiting of phlegm, which will immediately open the airway. Alternatively, chew Dougen (Vine Bean Root) and swallow its juice, which will also open the airway. Strictly avoid Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis); if ingested, it is incurable.
If no medicine is available or if medicine cannot be swallowed, quickly squeeze both arms with hands dozens of times, tie the thumb tightly with a greasy hair rope, and prick the side of the fingernail (i.e., Shaoshang).
Acute Locked Throat Wind (Ji Suo Hou Feng) (Also treats Single Goose and Double Goose tonsillitis)
Use Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) four taels, crushed, boiled in four bowls of water until one bowl remains, and administer by force-feeding. Or, crush Zaojia (Gleditsiae Fructus), mix with water, and administer by force-feeding to induce vomiting; even if vomiting does not occur, the patient will stabilize. If this prescription is not used, remove the shell from Badou (Crotonis Fructus), wrap slightly in cotton paper, and insert into either nostril to immediately clear the passage; or, take Bai Fan (Alumen) three qian, melt slowly over low fire, add two pieces of Badou flesh, grind into a paste, wait until dry, remove the Badou, grind the alum into powder, apply a small amount into the throat to expel stubborn phlegm, resulting in immediate cure. Another method: hold a piece of Danfan (Chalcanthite) in the mouth, causing phlegm and saliva to rise naturally; vomiting them all out leads to cure. (From *Danfang Zongji*)
Acute Sudden Sore Throat (Ji Hou Bi) (Sound like snoring, rattling of phlegm in the throat, this is a sign of Lung Exhaustion)

Another method: Chop the root tip of Wannianqing (Rohdea Japonica), mash and squeeze out the juice, administer by force-feeding; vomiting the phlegm leads to improvement. If the mouth is closed, pry it open with a toothbrush to administer. If vomiting does not occur, advance a hair tip into the throat to induce vomiting, leading to cure. (Empirical Prescription)
Double Goose (Single Goose appears round like a sinew head, growing at the upper gate of the throat, on either the left or right. Double Goose grows on both sides. If growing on the wall below the throat [referring to spider webs], take one hair from the back of the patient's head to wrap around the spider web, pierce it with a silver hairpin, burn it over a lamp, preserve the charred nature, grind into powder, and blow into the throat for immediate effect. (Recorded in various departments))
