Black dates (one jin, boiled and peeled), Qingfan (Vitriolum Ferritum et Cupri, one qian, ground into fine powder), and rice vinegar (one qian) are mashed together. They are refined into pills the size of *Coculus indici* seeds (Wutongzi). Dry them in the sun until completely dry.
Realgar (Xionghuang) and raw Alum (Sheng Baifan) in equal parts are ground into a fine powder. Late-night rice is mashed and refined with the powder to form pills the size of mung beans. Take three qian per dose, washed down with boiling water for immediate recovery. Pregnant women should avoid taking this.
Any condition presenting with vomiting and diarrhea, or only vomiting without diarrhea, or only diarrhea without vomiting, or even where neither can be expelled, is called Gan Huoluan (Dry Cholera). If treated improperly, death may occur instantly. This prescription uses Huoxiang (Agastache Herba), Chao Cangzhu (Fried Atractylodis Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (each two qian); Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma) and Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) (each one qian); Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) and Chen Chaye (Aged Tea Leaves) (each three qian). Add fresh scallions with roots (add a piece of fresh lotus leaf if there is dry mouth). Decoct strongly in clear water and take warm. Mild cases recover after one dose; severe cases recover after a second dose. This formula was obtained from an inscription on a stone tablet at the Lüzu Palace in Sichuan and has cured many people.
Take two strips of long paper coal (paper candles), ensuring they are hollow inside. Cut off one cun from the tip, leaving one and a half cun at the broken end. Dip the remainder entirely in lamp oil. Insert the tips successively into the left and right anus. The effect is as expected (rapid and effective).
(Attached: Two Supplemental Prescriptions)
The first is Qi Distension (Qi Zhang). It arises from qi movement in the mouth after meals. Swelling begins in the chest and abdomen and gradually spreads to the four limbs. Food intake decreases, and the qi feels unrelaxed.
The second is Water Distension (Shui Zhang). It results from scanty urination. Swelling starts at the dorsum of both feet and gradually moves upward to the upper body. Appetite gradually closes, and breathing becomes increasingly rapid. Regarding the above two conditions... [Text gap] ...three qian. Light ginger soup.
The third is Drum Distension (Gu Zhang), commonly known as Spider Distension. This occurs due to amenorrhea in women, where the abdomen swells gradually while the four limbs become thinner, resembling a spider. Food intake decreases. At night... [Text gap] ...degrees. Sleep and diet return to normal naturally. Follow up with the two supplemental prescriptions below. After several months, when blood and qi are sufficient, menstruation will flow naturally, and salty foods need not be restricted.
The fourth is Spleen Deficiency Distension (Pi Xu Zhang). It transforms into distension disease due to chronic diarrhea caused by spleen deficiency that fails to heal over time. The treatment method focuses on dispelling dampness and strengthening the spleen. It is suitable to take Bazhen Fen (Eight Treasures Powder). [Formula details omitted] Take one or two spoonfuls of Bazhen Fen morning and afternoon, mix with white sugar and boiling water to make a paste, and eat it as a snack.
There are also patients who, after illness, suddenly develop edema in the hands, feet, head, face, chest, and abdomen. Upon inquiry, their urination and defecation are normal, appetite is still open, and nighttime sleep is peaceful. Only... Suitable...
For all the various types of distension diseases mentioned above, starting from self-regulation and treatment, one must strictly avoid eating raw/cold foods, fruits, and all gas-producing items for four months to ensure no aftereffects.
