Dried Ginger (Shengjiang) 3 liang (4 liang for robust individuals), Honey-fried Licorice Root (Zhi Gancao) 2 liang, Raw Aconite Root (Sheng Fuzi) one large piece, Porcine Bile (Zhū Dǎn Zhī) 4 he.
Take the above three ingredients, decoct with 3 sheng of water to obtain 1.2 he, remove the dregs, add Porcine Bile, and divide into two doses to be taken warm.
Sini Tang (Decoction for Reversal of Cold Extremities) with added Porcine Bile is a formula employing the method of following the disease nature (Cong Zhi) for conditions of Yang deficiency with severe Yin excess. When internal fluids are exhausted and the pulse is faint and nearly imperceptible, this indicates simultaneous collapse of Yin and Yang. This occurs after severe vomiting and diarrhea.
Green Onion White (Cong Bai) four stems, Dried Ginger (Shengjiang) 1 liang, Raw Aconite Root (Sheng Fuzi) one piece (raw, skin and umbilicus removed, broken into eight pieces).
Take the above three ingredients, decoct with 3 sheng of water to obtain 1 sheng, remove the dregs, and divide into two doses to be taken warm.
The name "Baitong" implies that the drying nature of Dried Ginger and Aconite Root is disliked by the Kidney; thus, the moistening and unblocking properties of Green Onion White are required to facilitate communication with the Kidney, hence the name. For cases where dampness predominates over wind, Shu Fu Tang (Atractylodes and Aconite Decoction) is used. Since dampness invading the human body affects the Spleen (Taiyin), Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome strengthens the Spleen and removes dampness, while Prepared Aconite Warms the Channels and removes dampness, assisted by
