(Attached: Bleeding caused by Liver Fire, Vomiting caused by Stomach Fire.)
Official Zhang fell from a horse and injured his leg. After taking *Cao Wu* (Aconitum kusnezoffii Rhizome), he developed epistaxis (nosebleed) and cough, arm pain, yellow eyes, thirst, toothache, and scanty urine. This was due to the injury of the Lung and Large Intestine by dry/hot herbs. He was treated with *Sheng Di Huang* (Rehmanniae Radix), *Huang Qin* (Scutellariae Radix), *Lian Qiao* (Forsythiae Fructus - *Note: Context implies Lian Suo or similar, but standard text often lists Huang Lian here, assuming Huang Lian based on common pairing with Zhi/Bai*), *Zhi Mu* (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), *Huang Bo* (Phellodendri Cortex), *Shan Zhi* (Gardeniae Fructus), *Shan Yao* (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), and *Gan Cao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) to moisten Lung dryness and generate Kidney Water. His urination immediately increased, and all symptoms ceased. Subsequently, he was treated with *Shan Yao*, *Wu Wei Zi* (Schisandrae Fructus), *Mai Dong* (Ophiopogonis Radix), *Ren Shen* (Ginseng Radix), [missing character in original], *Xiong* (Chuanxiong Rhizome), *Dang Gui* (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), *Zhi Mu*, *Huang Bo*, *Huang Qin*, and *Zhi Gan Cao* (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) to nourish Yin-blood and support Yuan Qi, leading to wound healing.
Academician Yu broke his leg. Although the bone was set, he continued to have fever and uncontrollable bleeding three months later. Treatment by a specialist in orthopedics failed. The pulse at the left Guan position was surging and rapid, indicating excessive Liver Fire causing blood to move recklessly due to heat. He was administered *Xiao Chai Hu Tang* (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) added with *Shan Zhi*, *Bai Shao* (Paeoniae Radix Alba), *Sheng Di Huang*, and *Fang Feng* (Saposhnikoviae Radix). The bleeding stopped and fever subsided. He was then treated with *Ba Zhen Tang* (Eight Treasure Decoction), *Wu Wei Zi*, and *Mai Dong*, resulting in the healing of the wound.
The nephew of Grand Secretary Tian, in mid-autumn, fell due to anger, suffering from body-wide pain, fever, and epistaxis. The Liver pulse was wiry and surging. It was stated: "Long-term epistaxis with a wiry and surging pulse indicates excessive Liver Fire restraining Metal (Lung). By spring, when Liver Wood is flourishing, it may self-consume or damage Spleen Earth; this is not an easy-to-treat condition. One should nourish Kidney Water to generate Liver Wood and tonify Spleen Earth to generate Lung Metal." However, various agents for purging Liver Fire were mixed and used, and he died in early spring.
A woman fell to the ground in anger, injuring her face and bleeding. She had abundant phlegm, coma, and trismus (lockjaw). It was stated: "This is anger stirring up Liver Fire, with rebellious Qi and depression, causing the Spirit to be obscured and sudden collapse." Both hands showed surging pulses without order. She regained consciousness after being treated with *Xiao Chai Hu Tang* added with *Huang Lian* (Coptidis Rhizoma), *Shan Zhi*, *Xiong*, *Dang Gui*, *Gui Zhi* (Cinnamomi Ramulus), *Ju Hong* (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum), *Fu Ling* (Poria), and *Jiang Zhi* (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens Juice).
A person accustomed to rich food suffered from bruising, swelling, and pain in the leg after a fall. After taking acrid-hot herbs, he instead developed fever and wheezing, with increased pain at the lesion site, dry mouth, and peeling lips. This occurred because persons accustomed to rich food have internal accumulated heat; taking acrid-hot herbs further exacerbated Stomach Fire. Frequent drinking of *Tong Bian* (Child's Urine) and treatment with *Qing Wei San* (Clear the Stomach Powder) added with *Shan Zhi*, *Huang Qin*, and *Gan Cao* stopped the symptoms immediately. The affected area was moxibusted/warmed with scallions (*Cong Bai*), and the swelling dissipated.
