Postpartum convulsions of the hands and feet, upward deviation of the eyes, opisthotonos (body bent backward like a bow), deviation of the mouth and eye, aphasia (inability to speak due to tongue stiffness), surging of phlegm and saliva, and unconsciousness are all caused by wind-cold pathogens invading the *couli* (the interstices between skin and muscle), leading to disharmony in the meridians and collaterals. This condition resembles *Zhongfeng* (Wind Stroke), but it must absolutely not be treated as such. The urgent treatment should focus on tonifying Qi and strengthening Yang. Suitable prescriptions include Yougui Yin (Right Restoring Decoction) and Jiawei Xuming Tang (Modified Cinnamon Twig Decoction). If wind-drying herbs are used, they will severely consume Blood, leading to the loss of Yang. Formulas such as Suheli Wan (Styptic Pill) or Niuhuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill) can cause death upon ingestion.
