[Pulse and Etiology] Damp-heat pathogenic factors accumulate in the Lung, causing body fluids to surge and overflow. If the heat enters the Small Intestine along with the fluids, leukorrhea will be red; if it enters the Large Intestine, leukorrhea will be white. However, the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) ascends from the uterus, and the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel) passes horizontally above the umbilicus. The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel), Ren Mai, and Du Mai (Governor Vessel) originate from the same source but follow different paths, forming one source with three branches. They all connect with the Dai Mai and are governed by the genital region. Due to the circulation of other meridians, residual heat is left in the Dai Mai. "Heat" here refers to blood heat. Blood that accumulates for many days without flowing transforms under the influence of Metal (dryness), becoming white turbid discharge (Bai Yin). The treatment principle is the same as for dampness syndromes; using formulas such as Shizao Tang (Ten Date Decoction) or Yugong San (Yu Gong Powder) to descend fire and drain dampness is effective.
If caused by phlegm accumulation flowing downward and infiltrating the Bladder, this condition is common in obese individuals. Treat primarily with Erchen Tang (Two Aged Herbs Decoction) combined with herbs that lift Qi.
[Syndrome and Treatment] When the Qi of the Three Yang meridians is about to exhaust and the Sea of Blood is nearly depleted, slippery substances flow downward. If accompanied by all deficiency-cold symptoms, with a pulse that is large and choppy but empty upon deep pressure, warm nourishment should be applied.
Mr. Li's Jiuzhu Danggui Wan (Wine-Boiled Angelica Pill) treats this syndrome. If blood deficiency is severe, add Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction); if Qi deficiency is severe, add Renshen (Ginseng) and Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome); if sliding/loss of control is severe, use Longgu (Dragon Bone) and Chishizhi (Red Halloysite) to astringe.
Additionally, if there are ulcerative sores caused by parasites, white fluid may also leak out.
Xiaoxiong Wan (Small Chest Pill): Treats damp-heat leukorrhea; administer first to purge, then regulate with Kulian Wan (Toosendan Pill).
Kulian Wan Composition: Tulianpi (Evodia Fruit, soaked in wine), Huixiang (Fennel Seed, stir-fried), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) in equal parts.
Preparation and Administration: Make pills the size of mulberry seeds using wine paste, take with wine. For lower back and leg pain, add Siwu Tang (4 liang), Qianghuo (Notopterygium Root), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) each (1 liang). For deficiency, add Renshen (Ginseng), [missing character, likely Huangqi], Gancao (Licorice Root), or add Baishao (White Peony Root).
Jiuzhu Danggui Wan (Wine-Boiled Angelica Pill): Treats all deficiency syndromes. Exhaustion of Yuan Qi in the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao, incessant hiccups and vomiting, extreme Stomach Qi deficiency, pulse large but forceless, empty or non-pulsating upon pressure, all indicate Cold in the Middle Jiao.
Composition: Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 1 liang), Huixiang (Fennel Seed, 0.5 liang), Heifu Zi (Black Aconite Root, processed), Liangjiang (Galangal Rhizome, each 7 qian).
Preparation: Finely chop the four ingredients, boil in 1.5 sheng of wine until the wine is exhausted, dry by baking, and stir-fry until yellow.
Additional Ingredients: Yan (Salt), Dingxiang (Clove), Kulian (Toosendan Fruit, raw), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 0.5 liang), Quanxie (Scorpion, 3 qian), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 2 qian), Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome, 1 qian), Muxiang (Aucklandia Root, 1 qian), Yanzhusu (Corydalis Rhizome, 4 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the nine additional ingredients together with the previously wine-boiled four ingredients into powder. Make pills using wine and wheat paste, take on an empty stomach with light vinegar soup.
Guzhen Wan (Solidify True Pill): Treats cold pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions and sensation of fire streaming in the eyes. These are caused by Cold-Damp invading the interior of the uterus, where fluids float lightly and latent fire resides.
Composition: Baishi Zhi (White Halloysite, 1 qian, fired red and wet-ground to fine powder), Bailonggu (Dragon Bone, 1 qian, processed appropriately), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, processed, 4 qian, to drain cold water), Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, 0.5 qian, as a guiding herb), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root, 1 qian according to Ben Jing), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 1 qian, to harmonize blood vessels), Baishao (White Peony Root, 0.5 qian, to guide), Renshen (Ginseng), Huangqi (Astragalus Root, add if deficiency is severe).
Preparation and Administration: Except for Baishi Zhi and Bailonggu which are wet-ground finely, grind the rest extremely fine. Mix with water and wheat paste to make pills the size of corn kernels. Sun-dry and take on an empty stomach with decoction, followed by food to suppress the pill.
Contraindications: Avoid raw/cold foods, greasy foods, and damp noodles. If the Sea of Blood is nearly depleted, add Bai Kuihua (White Hibiscus Flower, 7 flowers) and Yuliren (Prunus Armeniaca Kernel, to moisten dryness and nourish fluids). If appetite is poor, add Wuweizi (Schisandra Berry).
Yanyi Formula (from *Yanyi*): Treats leukorrhea resembling pus, indicating pus in the intestines and stomach. Once the pus is cleared, peace returns.
Composition: Hongkuigen (Hibiscus Root), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root), Chishaoyao (Red Peony Root), Baifan (Alum).
Preparation and Administration: Make wax pills, take with rice drink.
Another Formula: Treats leukorrhea and white turbidity. Stir-fry Huangjingzi (Vitex Fruit) until charred, grind to powder, and take with wine.
Zhang used Gouti San (Melon Seed Powder) to induce vomiting to expel cold phlegm and raise Qi; used Daoshui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill) to purge damp-heat; used Ganlu San (Sweet Dew Powder) to regulate and promote urination to clear damp-heat.
Zaoshi Tan Fang (Dry Damp-Phlegm Formula): Treats obese individuals.
Composition: Haishi (Flint), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber), Nanxing (Arisaema Rhizome, treats phlegm), Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, treats damp-phlegm), Cangzhu (Atractylodes Lancea Rhizome, dries damp-phlegm), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome, raises Qi), Chunpi (Toona Leaf Bark), Xiangfu (Cyperus Rhizome, regulates Qi), Niuxi (Achyranthes Root, add if wind-pain is present).
Kuare Fang (Scrape Heat Formula): Treats thin individuals.
Composition: Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, clears ministerial fire), Huashi (Talcum), Chunpi (Toona Leaf Bark), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, pungent/hot nature).
If sliding/severe leakage, add Longgu (Dragon Bone) and Shizhi (Halloysite); if stagnation, add Kuihua (Hibiscus Flower); if blood deficiency, add Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction). For severe cases, use emesis or purgation. Emesis uses Erchen Tang (Two Aged Herbs Decoction) plus Cangzhu (Atractylodes Lancea Rhizome); purgation uses Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome); regulation uses Shen [missing character] Wan (Divine Pill).
