If a woman feels as if there is a roasted meat block obstructing her throat, Banxia Houpo Tang (Pinellia and Magnolia Bark Decoction) is the primary treatment.
If a woman suffers from Zang Zao (Visceral Dryness), frequently feeling sorrowful and wanting to cry, with a demeanor resembling spirit possession and frequent yawning, Gancao Xiaomai Tang (Licorice and Wheat Decoction) is the primary treatment.
If a woman contracts Wind-Strike (Taiyang disease caused by wind pathogen) with fever and aversion to cold, and her menses happen to begin, after seven or eight days the heat subsides, the pulse becomes slow, the body cools, but she experiences fullness in the chest and hypochondrium resembling Jie Xiong (Chest Binding syndrome), and delirium, this is Re Ru Xue Shi (Heat entering the Blood Chamber).
One should puncture Qimen (LR14), applying tonification or reduction according to excess or deficiency.
If a woman has had Wind-Strike for seven or eight days, continuing to have alternating chills and fever occurring at regular times, and her menses happen to stop, this is Heat entering the Blood Chamber; the blood must be congealed, thus causing symptoms resembling malaria with regular paroxysms. Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) is the primary treatment. This formula is recorded in Shanghan Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage).
If a woman contracts Cold Damage with fever, and her menses happen to begin, she is clear-minded during the day but delirious at night, seeing visions as if of ghosts, this is Heat entering the Blood Chamber. Do not injure the Stomach Qi, nor attack the Upper and Middle Jiao; the disease will heal itself. (The character "Er" [two] is suspected to be an error.) In Yangming disease, if there is bleeding from the rectum accompanied by delirium, this is Heat entering the Blood Chamber; if only the head sweats, one should puncture Qimen (LR14) and apply reduction for excess conditions; when general sweating occurs, recovery follows. If a woman’s lower abdomen is full and hard like a Dun (an ancient vessel), with slight difficulty in urination but no thirst, appearing postpartum, this is Water and Blood binding together in the Blood Chamber. Dahuang Gansui Tang (Rhubarb and Kansui Decoction) is the primary treatment.
For women with cold in the yin region, warm internal sitz baths are used; Shechuangzi San (Cnidium Powder) is the primary treatment.

Question: A woman is ill; her diet is normal, yet she suffers from vexation and heat preventing sleep, and instead lies leaning forward to breathe. What is the cause? The Master said: This is Zhuan Bao (Displacement of the Bladder), inability to urinate. Why?
The Master said: This person was originally robust with abundant flesh, full-headed and corpulent, but now is emaciated, feeling empty-headed (or reduced capacity), and the cords of the bladder are twisted and inverted, causing this disease. Only by promoting urination can it be cured. Shengqi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill) is suitable because it contains Poria. This formula is recorded in Xu Lao (Deficiency and Emptiness).
The Master said: A pulse that is Floating and Tight usually indicates body pain. If there is no pain, what then? (Textual corruption here). If there is intestinal pain, abdominal borborygmi, and coughing due to constipation, in women presenting this pulse, Yin Chui (Vaginal Flatulence) is expected.
The Master said: The Cun Kou (Radial artery at wrist) pulse is Floating and Weak. Floating indicates Deficiency; Weak indicates lack of Blood. Floating leads to shortness of breath; Weak leads to Heat and spontaneous sweating. The Zu Yang (Dorsalis pedis artery) pulse is Floating and Choppy. Floating indicates Qi fullness; Choppy indicates Cold, leading to belching and acid regurgitation. If Qi descends, the Lower Abdomen becomes cold. The Shao Yin (Kidney channel) pulse is Weak and Fine. Fine indicates little Blood; Weak generates Wind. When Weak and Fine contend, there is aversion to cold in the yin region, Stomach Qi leaks downward, causing noisy vaginal flatulence.
The Master said: Stomach Qi leaking downward with noisy vaginal flatulence is due to Excess of Grain Qi. It is treated with guiding methods using Gaofa Dao (Fat and Hair Suppository).
A Shao Yin pulse that is Slippery and Rapid indicates sores in the yin region.
A Shao Yin pulse that is Rapid indicates Qi Lin (Painful Urination due to Qi stagnation) and sores in the yin region.
If a woman has erosive sores and ulceration in the yin region, wash with Yelangya Tang (Wild Wolf Tooth Decoction).
If a woman’s uterus swells like a melon, with pain in the yin region radiating to the lower back, Xingren Tang (Apricot Kernel Decoction) is the primary treatment.
A Shao Yin pulse that is Wiry indicates prolapse of the large intestine (rectal prolapse).
A Shao Yin pulse that is Floating and Agitated (Dong): Floating indicates Deficiency; Agitated indicates Pain. In women, this indicates Tuo Xia (Prolapse/Dropping down, such as uterine prolapse).
