Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) (each 1 liang), Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, processed) (0.5 liang).
For each dose, take 2 qian, mixed with warm wine. Whenever I treated women suffering from Qi-related abdominal pain, this single dose often cured them.
Treating acute excessive salivation/phlegm drool.
Banxia (Fructus Pinelliae Ternatae from Qizhou, 7 pieces, processed until cracked and split into four) Zaogeng (Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis, skin removed, roasted to 1.5 cun length) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis, 1 cun) Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, size of two fingers).
Boil all ingredients together in one bowl of water until half remains, then take in a single dose. Shen Xingzong, the Daizhi official, frequently suffered from phlegm-induced wheezing and could not lie down, requiring support to sit for several days. A guest who saw him said: "I once had this condition and was cured after taking one dose." The guest was rewarded with Qianmin (a unit of currency), and the prescription was named "Qianmin Tang". It can be tried; upon drinking a sip of this decoction, Xingzong [was relieved].
Treating phlegm turbidity obstructing the chest and diaphragm, acid regurgitation/borborygmus with counterflow, dizziness and vertigo with fatigue, and distending pain in the head and eyes.
Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis Cum Bile, processed) Wutou (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, processed and skin removed) Baifuzi (Rhizoma Typhonii Flagelliformis, raw) Banxia (Fructus Pinelliae Ternatae, washed, each 1 liang) Huashi (Talcum, ground) Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum) Shexiang (Moschus).
Make pills using thin wheat flour paste; the thinner, the better. Size should be like mung beans. Take 30 pills per dose, administered with Ginger-La tea or Mint tea. Whenever I experience dizziness and heaviness in the head and eyes, mental confusion, and phlegm counterflow in the chest causing a feeling of drunkenness and irritability, I take this medicine. After a while, it feels as if a heavy fur coat has been lifted away, bringing sudden clarity and smoothness. It is best taken after meals.
Relieving sudden heat, resolving phlegm, clearing the diaphragm, and refreshing the head and eyes.
Caolongdan (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae) Baifan (Alumen) Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis Cum Bile) Banxia (Fructus Pinelliae Ternatae) (Baifan 4 liang; Nanxing and Banxia each 2.5 liang, soaked in water, sliced, boiled together in half Jiangshui [fermented grain liquid] and half Xueshui [snow water]...).
Grind the above into powder and make pills with wheat flour paste, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills per dose, administered with clear La tea decoction. Take after meals and before going to bed. The wheat flour paste must be very thin, resembling thick syrup. For conditions of phlegm obstruction and diaphragmatic heat causing heavy and dizzy head, taking this brings immediate clarity. For miasma toxins in Lingnan, if one feels mental dullness at the onset, taking it quickly resolves the issue. For sore throat and swelling, mouth and tongue ulcers, and any symptoms of upper jiao heat and phlegm turbidity, it can be taken. It is particularly effective for children.
