Dengxincao (Juncus effusus) dipped in sesame oil and ignited can be used to cauterize areas where collaterals are full, possessing the effects of restoring yang, dispelling wind, treating palpitations/fright, and detoxification.
The gathered heat from burning mugwort (Ai Ye) can be applied to treat metal-induced wounds, promoting flesh regeneration and stopping bleeding; applying it to nipples can stop infant night crying.
Moxibustion heat penetrates through, unblocking meridians and treating various diseases. For those suffering from wind-cold-dampness, adding a small amount of Realgar (Xionghuang) or Sulfur (Liuhuang) to the moxa is even more effective.
Yangsui Fire: Using a bronze mirror to reflect sunlight, holding moxa wool at the focal point to catch the flame. Huozhu Fire: Using a crystal sphere to reflect sunlight, holding moxa wool at the focal point to catch the flame. These two types of fire are best at penetrating meridians and curing diseases without damaging healthy qi.
Mulberry wood is shaved into needle shapes, dried, dipped in sesame oil, ignited, and then blown out while still hot; it is then used to moxibustion the affected area through paper, allowing the fire energy to reach the disease site directly. It is effective for cold pain in the heart and abdomen, cold-damp bi syndrome, and deep-seated yin abscesses.
Leihuo Shenzhen (Thunder Fire Divine Needle): Medicinal herbs and moxa wool are rolled in paper to form needles like divine needles; moxibustion on the affected area yields rapid results.
Gold needles heated until red-hot are used to treat deep-seated cold and chronic cold conditions, as well as masses and accumulations, showing faster efficacy than cold needling or warm moxibustion.
Drilling wood to make fire: Wood is the mother of fire, with a gentle nature that is not drying. Striking stones to make fire: The fire rises violently and explosively, with a dry and urgent nature. Nowadays, people's addiction to tobacco and alcohol often leads to disorders of fire pathogens.
The Five Elements each possess Yin and Yang, but the Yin and Yang of Fire are particularly prominent. Heavenly Yang Fire includes Solar True Fire and Star Meteor Fire; Heavenly Yin Fire includes Thunder Fire and Hidden Fire Essence; Earthly Yang Fire includes Drilled Wood Fire and Stone-Striking/Metal-Clashing Fire; Earthly Yin Fire includes Petroleum Fire; Human Yang Fire includes Sovereign Fire and Ministerial Fire; Human Yin Fire refers to Displaced Fire (Deficient Fire).
Baishantu (White Fine Clay): Nature is sweet and warm, treating cold in the male Water Organ (Kidney/Bladder) and cold uterus in females. For prickly heat itching, grind into powder and apply externally. For weeping sores/dampness, grind into powder and mix with raw oil for application.
Zaoxin Huangtu (Furnace Heart Yellow Earth / Voltron Liver): Nature is acrid and warm, borrowing the Qi of Fire and Earth, it harmonizes the middle Jiao, stops diarrhea, removes dampness, reduces swelling, and has the function of benefiting the spleen and warming the earth.
Dongbi Tu (East Wall Earth): Nature is sweet and warm, benefiting the spleen, supporting Yang, and stopping cholera-like vomiting and diarrhea. For wet rot in the lower body, grind into powder and apply externally.
