The Small Intestine and Bladder belong to the Taiyang (Greater Yang) channel; Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) is the primary drug for this region. The Sanjiao (Triple Burner), Gallbladder, and Pericardium belong to the Shaoyang (Lesser Yang) and Jueyin (Terminal Yin) channels; Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) is potent for these two channels. For the Taiyang, Yangming (Bright Yang), and Foot-Yangming Stomach channels, Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) are appropriate. The Taiyin Lung meridian originates from the Middle Jiao; Baizhi, Shengma, and Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) are suitable for this channel. The selection of drugs for the Spleen channel differs from that of the Lung; Shengma should be combined with Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) for detailed consideration. Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) governs the Shaoyin Heart channel; for the Kidney channel, Duhuo combined with Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) or Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) is beneficial.
Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Shashen (Glehniae Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), and Zishen (Adenophorae Radix), along with Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix) and Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix), when encountered with Lülü (Veratri Nigrum Rhizoma), will cause death. Baiji (Bletillae Rhizoma), Bailian (Ampelopsis Radix), and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), along with Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus) and Beimu (Fritillariae Cirrhosae Bulbus)—these five substances—must not be seen together with Wutou (Aconiti Radix) and Wu Hui (Aconiti Radix lateralis preparata); encountering them causes a contrary reaction, with toxicity striking swiftly like a spirit. Daji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix), Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos), and Haizao (Sargassum), as well as Gansui (Kansui Radix), are contrary to Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma). Mila (Beeswax) should not meet Conggen (Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus); Yunmu (Muscovite) should not appear with Shijueming (Concha Arcae).
Huang (Realgar) is originally the essence of fire; Puxiao (Mirabilitum) contends immediately upon meeting it. Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum) must not meet Pishuang (Arsenici Trioxidum); Yelangdu (Daphnes Genkwei Cortex) fears Miduoseng (Litharge) the most. Badou (Crotonis Fructus) has a fierce nature and is supreme, yet it disagrees with Qianniu (Pharbitidis Semen). Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) must not meet Yujin (Curcumae Longae Radix); Yanxiao (Mirabilitum refined) is difficult to combine with Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma). Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix lateralis preparata) and Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix) do not accord with Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu); Renshen also avoids Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces). Guigui (Cinnamomi Cortex) is good at regulating cold qi, but meets Shizhi (Haematitum) in an irregular manner.
Banmao (Myodes), Shuizhi (Hirudo), and Mengchong (Tabanus larva); Wutou, Fuzi (Aconiti Radix lateralis preparata), and Tianxiong (Aconiti Radix lateralis preparata major); Yege (Gelsemii Caulis), Shuiyin, and Badou; Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Yiyiren (Coicis Semen), and Wugong (Scolopendra); Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Daizhe (Haematitum), Yuanhua, She (Moschus), Daji, Shetuo (Ophichthus Skin), Huang Cixiong (Rooster Comb or specific animal part); Yanxiao, Mangxiao (Mirabilitum), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Huaihua (Sophorae Flos), Qianniu, and Zaojia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina) are mutually incompatible. Banxia, Nanxing (Arisaematis Cum Bile), and Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla); Qumai (Dianthi Herba), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), and Taoren (Persicae Semen) are also incompatible. Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Ganqi (Dammar Resina), Xiezhazhao (Carapax Trionycis), Didan (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba), and Maogen (Imperatae Rhizoma) are all unsuitable.
Zhike (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium aged), and Banxia; Zhuyu (Corni Fructus), Yelangdu, and Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba)—these six drugs are suitable for long-term aging; only after use does one know their efficacy is excellent. Chenpi must be aged for one year; Mahuang requires three years before it is suitable for use. Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) must possess "brocade patterns" (internal vascular bundles); if not aged over three years, its power is incomplete. Physicians do not use fresh Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica); Muzei (Equiseti Herba) is never used fresh. Yuanhua is essentially a yin substance; it is not afraid of being soft and cotton-like (referring to its texture/stability when aged).
