The Heart pulse (pulse of the Heart) prefers to be Floating and Full (superficial and large with force). It resides peacefully within the Five Zang organs and connects smoothly. If it appears Deep, stagnant, combined with a Slippery quality (note: "Hua Shi" likely refers to a specific pathological state or is a textual error for a pulse characteristic), frequent Qi rebellion indicates impending death. A Wiry pulse indicates no disease in the Heart; when spirit is confused, a Slow pulse signifies smooth flow. Sudden appearance of Floating, Fine, Thin, or Short pulses indicates Evil Heat filling the Heart. A Wiry and Rapid pulse is due to Wind-Heat; a Micro and Deep pulse indicates deficiency and susceptibility to External Wind. a Solid and Long pulse indicates obstruction in the Bao and Diaphragm, where Extreme Yang leads to Yin fullness. A Micro and deficient pulse suggests Heart weakness accompanied by fear; a Long and Wiry pulse suddenly appearing indicates Qi disturbance by Wind. A Moving pulse distinguishes between light/heavy and turbid/clear, from which exterior and interior diseases arise.
The Liver pulse thrives in Spring. A Long, thin, and weak pulse is pitiable. Appearance of Short, Micro, Floating, or Choppy pulses indicates Metal overcoming Wood, making preservation difficult. A Full and Large pulse heals after ten days; a Micro, Deep, Short, and Slippery pulse prolongs the illness. A Slow pulse worries about Cold Stomach; a Wiry and Rapid pulse governs tendon spasms. A Floating and Solid pulse presents as bilateral swelling and redness; a Deficient pulse due to Choppy and Hidden qualities indicates paralysis. A Slippery pulse involves Gallbladder involvement with thirst, headache, and Wind-Cold. A Micro, Slow, Light, Floating, and Scattered pulse causes difficulty in vision, as if seeing flowers. Pulse movement is observed at forty-two intervals, examined during Jia-Yi days.
The Lung organ's pulse is Light and Floating; peacefulness combined with Choppy is more concerning. If Full, Tight, and alternating appear, even without obvious cause, there is worry. A Deep and Empty pulse changes; Yin and Yang intersect naturally. If Harmonious, Slow, and Tight interact, progress and retreat are inexplicable. Floating and Solid must point to each other; Full, Slow, and Rapid worry about Floating. The Lung Metal pulse is also Choppy; expectoration of saliva is unfavorable in Autumn.
The Kidney cover should be pure and quiet; a Micro and Deep pulse indicates suspicion. If Hidden and Absent appear immediately, matters regarding the Heart are abnormal. A Floating pulse indicates chronic Kidney deficiency; a Slow pulse with pain involves frequent dream emission. Pulse movement occurs at six-eight intervals, corresponding to Ren-Gui days as per the preceding song.
The Spleen organ's pulse should be Light; based on Slowness and Peace, it is calm. If Harmonious, Wiry, Tight, and Urgent appear, long-term worry about life and anger arises. A Floating and Solid pulse indicates internal consumption of fluids; a Micro and Floating pulse shows external heat merging. When the pulse comes, the Spleen should be hidden; Excess Fire uses emotional states. A Slippery pulse governs Spleen Heat and dryness; gingival bleeding and foul breath rise. Pulse movement is observed at twenty-eight intervals, combining with Wu-Ji days in the middle camp.
Cun (Inch) position: Full (Saturated. Intestinal knotting. Diaphragmatic heat and oppression.) Floating (Chest weakness. Muscle deficiency with external heat.) Slippery (Stomach heat. Stomach cold. Gallbladder turbidity affecting food digestion.) Solid (Heart Qi overflow causing pain and pathogen invasion. Abdominal pain.) Wiry (Spleen pain. Stomach cold. Heart pain. Emaciation from extreme heat.) Micro (Heart Qi invaded by pathogen. Organ closure and blockage. Kidney deficiency.) Deep (Reversed cold in limbs. Yellow emaciation, rapid wasting, bone heat.) Slow (Wind-Bi with lower deficiency and decay. Neck and back stiffness and pain.) Choppy (Qi deficiency and blood dispersion. Stomach disharmony.) Hidden (Cold accumulation in chest. Qi closure and blockage. Kidney deficiency.)
Guan (Bar) position: Full (Accumulated evil causing salivation. Pathogenic food. Food stagnation in Stomach.) Floating (Lower deficiency affecting hearing. Kidney wind stagnation. Skin itching.) Slippery (Accumulated cold qi. Difficult urination. Waist and abdominal pain.) Solid (Incontinence of urine. Abdominal distension and dream emission.) Wiry (Lower abdominal pain. Qi stagnation. Podagra/Gout. Kidney wind itching.) Micro (Heart and abdominal fullness. Qi knotting and pain. Deficiency and timidity.) Deep (Heart Qi pain. Blockage and non-flow. Spleen deficiency.) Slow (Stomach cold with frequent vomiting and reflux. Heart, abdomen, and Liver pain.) Choppy (Blood strangury and blood deterioration. Dry blood skin. Jaundice.) Hidden (Masses and accumulations with cold qi. Blood stasis causing dim vision.)
Chi (Cubit) position: Full (Heat and choppy sensation in feet. Foot pain due to Kidney deficiency.) Floating (Bright heat in sinews and bones. Hematochezia and headache.) Slippery (Wind obstruction causing stiff tongue. Heart heat. Vomiting and Stomach reflux.) Solid (Wind-Heat causing red face. Chest and diaphragm discomfort. Irritability.) Wiry (Blood congestion in legs. Headache. Dry eyes. Vomiting. Tendon tension.) Micro (Cold accumulation in abdomen causing diarrhea. Labor-Qi night sweats.) Deep (Qi stagnation causing lower back pain. Deficient heat accumulation leading to death.) Slow (Kidney cold with spontaneous sweating. Cold dream emission.) Choppy (Reversed cold in four limbs. Floating diarrhea and pain below the umbilicus.) Hidden (Inability to eat. Abdominal pain and pain in hands/feet. Lower diarrhea.)
